Meet Stephanie Harvey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Harvey.

Stephanie, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. Not a professional one, but the writing was my safe place and somehow found its way into every part of my life. Now figuring out how to harness that passion into a career was another story…

After graduating from college with a degree in public relations, I moved to New York City and immersed myself in the fashion industry. I loved it. I was able to use my creativity in a way I never had before. It was exhilarating, terrifying and all consuming. But it wasn’t writing. A few years in, I found myself itching to do more. I wanted to make an impact and I felt like there was a better way I could do it.

I moved to Arizona in 2016, met my husband and a year and a half later we were married. My family was here and it felt like so many pieces of my life were falling into place – except my career. I never wanted it to define me, but the truth was, it was a piece of my heart that I wanted to nourish. After working in a couple of marketing-focused jobs where I was trying to write every chance I got, countless conversations with my husband and what felt like hundreds of word documents on my computer, I knew I needed to leap. It was my time to try and make my passion profitable. And I did it.

Weeks after deciding I was going to take this infamous leap, I signed my first client, then my second and third. It was a whirlwind! I was trying to figure out what my “thing” was while also learning how to manage a business. It was hard, but when I saw the impact I was making through my creativity and words, it was worth every minute.

Stephanie Harvey Creative began as a copywriting business and has now evolved into a small creative company with a focus on brand development, logo design, website creation and of course, copy, Although helping businesses understand how to use words most effectively remains my specialty (and favorite), learning the other parts of my business has been undeniably rewarding.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not. Running your business on the internet is scary! One of my first clients (so I thought) ended up being a total scam and somehow managed to make me think he was hiring me, only to send me a fake check. I realized then that this was not going to be easy. I was going to have to trust people, but I was also going to have to ensure that I was aware of who I was working with. When you run your own business, you have to do it all. No one is vetting potential clients for you. I remember at that moment thinking that maybe I wasn’t cut out for this, but I quickly reminded myself that if I wanted this bad enough, I could make it happen.

Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?.
Stephanie Harvey Creative is a small creative company that specializes in copywriting, logo design, website creation and content/brand strategy. I’m most proud of the evolution of my company. I knew I could excel in terms of writing, but I had no idea I would find success in the design space. It’s been amazing to see my creativity evolve with the company.

As far as what sets me apart I’m a firm believer that being an entrepreneur means being prepared to be the face and voice of your brand – which also means the thing that sets you apart from everyone else. For me, the way I work and the relationships I cultivate is my foundation. My goal is that by the end of our time together, my clients feel more like family. I know how scary it is to trust someone with your “baby” and I want the businesses I work with to know that I am fully invested in their success.

I know that there are a lot of people who can do what I do, but I’m confident that the care I give to my clients is what makes working with me worth it.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Oh wow! A mental trip down memory lane… I grew up with a HUGE extended family. Lots of cousins, aunts and uncles. Growing up, we had a family Christmas party every year where 40-50 of us would gather together for food games, presents and time together. For most of my life, it was a giant sleepover. Yes, people had to sleep in closets. I just remember those times feeling like there was SO much love around me and I know that love has a lot do with who I am today.
