Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Hairston.
Chef Steph is an entrepreneur from Pasadena California, USA. Her love for food started at the young age of 12! In her youth, instead of buying gifts for her family Chef Steph would bake goody bags full of homemade treats made from the heart. She loves to see the smile that good food brings to the faces of family and friends. Her love for food eventually led her to pursue a culinary career in which she obtained both associates of science degree in culinary arts as well as a bachelor of science degree in culinary management. Most recently Chef Steph has created a seasonings line selling her custom seasoning blends to cooks worldwide! She also served honorably in the United States Air Force where she met her husband Keith and started their family. They have two children Kyrah & KJ!
Has it been a smooth road?
Growing up: I was the only girl with two brothers growing up with our single mother who worked full time so I had to step up and help with the meals a lot! I enjoyed cooking for my mom and brothers and it made me feel good to help lighten the load off of my mother in any way I could. I would get excited about meal planning and grocery shopping & I still do to this day. The enjoyment of cooking has never left me and I hope it never does.
Challenges: Becoming a chef is a very challenging journey, we are usually the first ones up and the last ones to sleep. It takes lots of dedication and passion to keep you going. Starting my seasonings line has been difficult deciding which products to launch first and getting the custom seasoning blend just right for my customers.

Simply Chef Steph is the name of my custom seasonings line, right now I have created an All purpose blend, a Chicken blend, and a lemon pepper blend, I plan on expanding the line to eventually have 20 seasoning blends! I am also currently working on my first cookbook called Chef Stephs Family Secrets, set to release on my 33rd birthday December 5th, 2019. The cookbook is my most proud moment because I’ve been talking about doing it for years and now I’m finally putting it in action. Being a small business owner I am easily accessible and I can create custom seasoning blends for my customers based on their personal preferences and dietary needs which I believe makes my company very unique.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Phoenix is a great place to run a food business because there are so many different types of people here with just as many different tastes. I’ve noticed that people here are very willing to try new things and they are usually open to finding their new favorite product. I love that people out here are eager to support local businesses.
