Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Betts.
Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey in the field of aesthetics started in 2001 and has been extremely fulfilling for me to this day. I have made a career as an aesthetician, particularly in medical aesthetics. In 2012, I took a giant leap forward and established my practice Serendipity Skin. I offer a range of corrective skincare treatments under the guidance of my esteemed medical director, Dr. H. This partnership allows me to provide my clients with medical-grade treatments and access to prescription-strength products.
Alongside running my practice, I discovered a passion for teaching in 2012. This led to me obtaining my license as an aesthetic instructor. Initially, I did this to fill my time as I developed my business. However, I quickly realized that I enjoyed sharing my expertise with others. This led me to expand my educational offerings to include Continuing Education courses tailored for aesthetic professionals.
Today, I find myself thriving in both roles. My client practice continues to flourish, and I find immense joy in my treatment room daily. My client relationships are good for my soul. I am also actively involved in education, teaching at local aesthetic schools, and mentoring fellow aestheticians in business practices and treatment techniques.
Having to regularly find ways to balance these two aspects of my career has been incredibly rewarding. I’m grateful for the opportunity to provide exceptional service to my clients and also to contribute to the growth and development of others in the aesthetics field. I look forward to a future where I am deeply involved in the hands-on work with my clients and the educational aspect of this industry I love so much.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Over two decades as a career aesthetician, along with the many smooth patches, there have been moments of struggle, particularly during periods of growth for my business or personal development for myself. One significant challenge I’ve encountered is navigating the intricacies of business expansion.
While I’ve developed my intuition for recognizing when growth is necessary, the hurdle lies in determining the exact steps and their sequence to propel my business forward. It is a continual practice to prioritize tasks and make strategic decisions to ensure sustainable growth.
Another obstacle I notice is the continued risk of burnout. Despite my deep passion for my work, there have been instances where the routine or demands of the job leave me feeling drained. This challenge is exaggerated by my genuine love for what I do. This propels me to seek out what reignites my enthusiasm and rejuvenates me. It’s a journey of self-discovery and continuous renewal to keep my passion alive in this ever-evolving field.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an aesthetician, I am an expert in nurturing healthy skin. It’s my responsibility to guide my clients on their journey to achieve and maintain Beauty.Healthy.Skin. (my tagline). I also empower them with the knowledge to care for their skin at home, this is a role I excel in, and my clients trust me for it.
What truly sets me apart from others in my field is my ability to forge deep connections with my clients and foster relationships that endure over time. Some of my most cherished client relationships span nearly two decades, with each interaction strengthening our bond. These clients aren’t just individuals I serve; they’re friends and they are family.
Their trust and loyalty mean the world to me, and they know that I genuinely care for them, appreciate them as a person, and am invested in their well-being. This personal touch and this genuine connection set me apart in the industry. It’s not just about providing excellent skincare services; it’s about building relationships that last and are built on trust, respect, and a shared commitment to overall well-being.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Recently I have been listening to self-improvement podcasts and some of my favorite podcasters are Jay Shetty, Mel Robbins, Joe Rogan, Dr Joe Dispenza, to name a few. I recently started to track my fitness and diet with the MyFitnessPal app and ABC Trainerize.
I read books depending on my mood, and I usually have a few different types of books at once. Most recently, I read “How to Be the Love You Seek” by Dr Nicole LePera for personal growth, and I read “I am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter” by Erika Sanchez for a light-hearted story and keep reading light and fun.
