Meet Jennifer Rellora and Michael Robinson of Steep Tea Company in East Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Rellora and Michael Robinson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We knew that we had a shared vision of wanting to contribute something of our own to the world that aligned with our values of veganism, health and quality. After a trip to Asia last year, we found inspiration in the traditional, deep-rooted culture of tea which ultimately led to the creation of Steep Tea Company.

Once we figured out our concept we knew we wanted to get up and running as quickly as possible. We went to a local food truck builder and purchased our beverage trailer and started on necessary licensing and paperwork as soon as we could. We worked incredibly hard and in a matter of three months, our idea became a reality.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have been operating since mid-November and from the very beginning, we knew we would face challenges. It’s inevitable especially as first-time food truck owners. We’ve had situations that really test our adaptability when things don’t go as planned. As a small business we are definitely feeling the impact of the current pandemic. Even though the present circumstances are unknown, one thing that we are certain of is that things always work themselves out.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Steep Tea Company – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Steep Tea Company is a mobile, plant-based beverage bar that specializes in tea espresso and elixirs. We aim to craft the best beverages using premium loose leaf teas, organic superfoods, and adaptogens. All of our syrups are created in house in small batches and we carry a variety of plant milk to cater to everyone. Our most popular beverages are our tea lattes such as our Black Tea Latte or Matcha Jasmine Latte. Other favorites include our Berry Immunitea Refresher and our Herbal CBD Lemon Balm Tea.

We use the highest quality loose leaf tea to craft one of a kind beverages with your health in mind. Each ingredient we put into our beverages is selected with care because quality is important. We are proud to say that our ingredients are certified non-GMO, organic when possible and ethically sourced. Steep believes in making a difference for your health and for the planet. All of our cups, straws and napkins are derived from plant-based materials that are 100% compostable. We also try to support as many small, local businesses as possible. We carry amazing vegan and gluten-free treats from some of the best bakers in the valley.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our most recent venture was serving our beverages and healthy snacks at Peoria Sports Complex for the 2020 Spring Training season which is home to the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres. We are looking forward to festivals and street fairs around the valley in the upcoming weeks. We also recently launched our online store, so our premium loose leaf tea can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.
