Meet Stacy Johnson of Red Inspired Fitness in Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Johnson.

Stacy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When my oldest son was about 2 years old. I looked at his feet and I thought to myself about how much they looked like my dad’s feet and I froze. If the outside of my son looked like my dad, the inside probably did too. My dad had his first heart attack at age 30 and his father died before age 50 and his brother died before age 50 of heart disease. I had to do something! Heredity is not on my son’s side, but I had to be! Now, I have 3 boys and prevention is paramount in our household. I started volunteering for the American Heart Association (AHA) in 2008. I got educated. 80% of heart disease risk factors are mitigated by lifestyle changes. We made changes and began advocating with others. My involvement with the Go Red for Women movement through the AHA is how Red Inspired Fitness was born.

As heart health became a part of our daily routine people noticed. They asked for help. They asked for support. I specialize in bringing heart health to the daily routine for busy people who need assistance with weight loss, exercise, nutrition, time management and stress management in modern times.

Has it been a smooth road?
Disease prevention is a difficult business! No one likes to think about what will happen if they do not mitigate risk factors for disease. It is not uncommon for me to receive a late night call from a friend where they disclose a cardiac event for a family member and ask for support on building healthy changes into their lives going forward. I am always humbled that they thought of me. Excited for the opportunity to share the message and tips with a family for transformation but I cannot help but get angry that it takes a cardiac event to get the phone call! How can prevention and lifestyle changes become a focus BEFORE the event? This, I struggle with.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Red Inspired Fitness – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Making heart health a part of the daily routine in a modern society is my goal. I specialize in gamification of the journey. I create mini challenges to help people make 1 small change that can compound over time into success. Small sustainable changes repeated over time create habits, lifestyle changes and transformation. Who we are today is a result of the decisions made yesterday. I work on integrating small changes in nutrition, exercise, stress mitigation in a non-invasive way to amplify success.

For example of what I’m known for, is vegetable challenges. I feature veggies and you eat 3 cups a day for a week. It’s amazing what visibility this brings to your nutrition habits. I’m even known as “the vegetable lady” in a few of my circles!

There are many solutions that offer health and wellness services. What makes me unique is the constant creativity to freshen the commitment. When we roll off of a vegetable challenge, we will embark on an exercise challenge or a stress mitigation challenge or even a gratitude challenge. Each “challenge” is bounded by time, with measures of success and creates an environment to foster success and life change.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Gilbert is a great place to raise a family. The East Valley, in general, has every service of a big city with the small town feel. I love Arizona and specifically Gilbert.
