Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Willingham.
Spencer, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always known music was special to me, but until two years ago, I didn’t know how to pursue it. I have been in multiple bands that ultimately got nothing was done due to scheduling, laziness by members, and ultimately everyone losing interest. At this point, my growing interest in electronic music and participating in music festivals spurred me to try starting a solo music project. I created a DJ persona and started practicing every day. I played my first show less than a year ago and I was hooked! The adrenaline, crowd reaction/interaction, and being able to mix my favorite music is by far one of the best feelings I have ever experienced. Fast forward to today, I am feeling validated my career is on the right track. Being recognized for all of my practice and dedication is an incredible feeling. I am not letting this momentum fade!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest obstacle getting in the way of breaking into the electronic music scene is having yourself and your brand stand out from the other talent.
Please tell us about your work.
I am a dubstep/weird bass DJ who goes by the alias EYECHRONiC. I came in 3rd place in the 4th Annual Phoenix Lights DJ competition.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is just being able to be on stage, engage with the crowd, and give them a helluva show.
