Meet Skip Wood of Muscle With A Motor & AZFITCO in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skip Wood.

Skip, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’d always wanted to have my own supplement line and as luck would have it, a former co-worker began formulating products at a manufacturing plant in Utah. He (Bryan Stevens) called one day and asked if I had any ideas for a product to produce and I did. Together we perfected the ingredient list and called it Cut Complex, which is a fat-burning thermogenic (energy producing) supplement. My wife, Amanda, joined us and we named our company Muscle With A Motor. We have plans to add several more products to our line.

The fitness community we’ve built through Muscle With A Motor has played a large part in our (Amanda and I) latest venture of opening a gym. We are calling our group fitness training facility AZFITCO and we are located in Chandler. Construction is underway and we open in April of 2018! We couldn’t be more excited about it.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been several setbacks along the way, but you learn to expect them and keep pushing forward.

For Muscle With A Motor, educating people about our product Cut Complex and why it’s superior to other similar products has been a struggle. We’ve found many people are reluctant to try a product that isn’t made by big brand name in the industry. That’s why we are constantly at expos and events handing out as many samples as we can! It’s a great fat-burning thermogenic (energy producing) product.

For AZFITCO, finding the right location for a group fitness facility wasn’t easy. Deciding if we should take the plunge and open a gym wasn’t easy either, but it is full steam ahead now!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Muscle With A Motor & AZFITCO story. Tell us more about the business.
Muscle With A Motor is our supplement company and our product is Cut Complex. What sets us apart is the fitness community we’ve built in the process of growing the business. We run online fitness and nutrition challenges and host outdoor workouts as often as we can. What we are most proud of is the number of repeat customers we’ve had. It tells us are product works and people believe in us.

What makes us even more unique is that we’ll soon be selling our products at our own gym AZFITCO! Training and supplements go hand in hand, and we are excited to bring the two of ours together.

AZFICO will be unique in that aside from the daily group fitness class schedule, personal training of the same workout (WOD) that the classes do will be offered as well. People that aren’t efficient in all the exercises or comfortable in the group setting can utilize the one-on-one training until they are. Amanda and I are both certified strength and conditioning coaches.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I can attest that the harder you work, the luckier you get. I will say though, I was lucky to meet my wife – had I not, there wouldn’t be Muscle With A Motor or AZFITCO.
