Meet Simply Breana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simply Breana.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
How do you tell your personal story? How do you know what is important and what to omit? I struggled a lot to figure out how to tell my story because I feel that as humans we can have so many different stories we tell ourselves about why we are who we are.

My story I believe is like most peoples story. I have had adversity, and I have had triumphs. I am still learning and growing, and I am still making mistakes and figuring things out.

Since I was a little girl, I always loved every form of artistic expression. I started out with music, writing songs and singing. It is what I felt I was supposed to do with a musician Father. I also experimented with every medium I could get my hands on as a child. No direction, no art classes, and no formal training on what art was or is supposed to be.

To this day as I create, the only knowledge of art I have is from what I have personally researched on my own. But, I have always created art because it healed me. Art was an outlet for me to express myself with or without words. I could express myself through color, symbols, song, dance, textures, imagery, life…

My story is my art and the many forms it has taken throughout my life. From singing and songwriting to modeling, to painting, to digital art, to photography and cinematography, to acting, to poetry, to music production & engineering, to collage, to sketchbooks and journals to the way I choose to live my life. My story is in everything.

I have been lucky enough to have fans who have come along this journey with me because they understand. We connect through the art, and we share our stories, and suddenly the art is no longer even my story, but the story of many. My story is about expression and seeking connection through those creations. My story is about life and its many experiences and connecting with them.

Please tell us about your art.
When it comes to art, I have no limit. I create in as many ways as I can. As I expressed earlier, I create poetry, songs, music, paintings, sketches, digital art, modeling, photography, and cinematography, and everything in between and beyond. My message and my inspiration is always an expression. I have a need to express what I feel through the medium that feels right. This is why I refer to myself as an “Intuitive Artist” because I create based off of what feels right. I listen to myself, and I give myself free reign to create however my spirit feels it needs too.

I am also a Reiki Master (Energy Healing Facilitator), and I consider that to also be an art form. I create spaces of safety and openness where I allow myself and others to be completely themselves without judgment. A place so safe and free and relaxing that they can heal themselves. I believe I strive for this in all of my other art forms as well. I just want people to feel like they can do and be whoever they want to be. I hope that my art conveys this message of infinite possibilities and no boundaries to creativity as I continue to produce work that is genre-bending and free.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Being an artist can be lonely, but it can also be the exact platform needed for building real connections. I am not keen on giving advice (I feel people already know the answers to the questions they have), But I would say to just keep creating and showing your work. The process of building relationships will happen naturally and with the right people when you put yourself out there especially through your art. You will meet people or find out things about people you have known forever by the act of just sharing your truth in your art.

I feel there is no better way to connect than through the conversations started by an art piece that evokes connection and self-reflection. In this way, nothing is forced, and everything is authentic. I would say it is better to be a lonely artist than to force relationships and connections. Just create what you feel and allow nature to take the reigns.
I have made so many beautiful connections with people from all over just by being myself and expressing it in my art. This is a major reason I am so Grateful for art.
