Meet Simone Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Moreno.

Simone, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At first, I was in data entry work in 2010 I got laid off at the time I was a newly divorcée with two small kids and couldn’t find a job to provide for my family plus daycare a family member told me to go to cosmetology School since I had an interest of doing nails but never thought of it as a career. I did a year of cosmetology school got my license in 2012 and been doing nails ever since and never looked back. I worked in two major corporations’ salons until just recently in 2019 I decided to venture out on my own and it was the best decision I ever made in my life. Now a mother of three kids I am now at a place where I can be able to work full time and still come home to my kids and to all of their many after school activities.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The first six months of venturing out on my own was very tough it was a lot of trying to search for new clients building that relationship with the ones that I’ve had. Going to every guest in the salon while they’re getting their hair done if they would like a free hand massage or a manicure definitely social media helped me out a lot asking all the guests I’ve had if they can refer me giving discounts and now I’m at a place where I am very comfortable I’m still able to fit in new clientele I’ll never say no to a guest.

Tell us more about the business.
I am a nail technician been doing nails now for ten plus years at first, I only did the basic regular manicures and gel pedicures I have now expanded my creativity on acrylics polygel and dips. Dips by far are my most in need service that’s what I mostly specialize in. In 2019 I became an educator for the Gelish Nail and Harmony brand. what I most proud of as my own company is that how much I have grown in my art, in my patience, I’m always wanting to learn more about the industry and keeping up with the latest trends. I honestly believe I am no different from any other nail technician out there I do follow a lot of ladies in the industry I try to learn from them follow what they’re doing how they’re doing things and then learn how to incorporate that in my business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My luck has been my clients. They have stuck by me for a very long time and with all of them referring me to all of their family members keeping my business going I couldn’t do it without my clients.
