Meet Shirin Ahmadpour of Bodcor in West Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shirin Ahmadpour.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story really starts off with my hard-working, determined parents. My mother is from the Philippines and my father is from Iran, and together, they’ve given me every opportunity to achieve greatness. They encouraged me to focus and do well in school where I went from being valedictorian to receiving my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees with honors by 21 years old. I took the fast track into the workforce, getting my first job at 14 and working ever since. They taught me work ethic, and they helped me be passionately hungry for life, goals, and success.

Today, I operate Bodcor West Valley, an entrepreneurial endeavor that was in the making for years. I also work for Cloud LGS, a digital marketing agency. I’m a personal trainer and a professional dancer. I just want to do it all! So how did I get started? It was instilled in me to strive for the biggest of goals. How did I get here today? I spent years building relationships with people, creating a network, being kind to others, being eager to learn and work, and giving every job my all.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If my journey had been smooth, I definitely would have been bored. At 14, I worked at a Chinese Buffet. Bugs and dust fell from the ceiling and into the food. The owner yelled at me a lot. I went to work right after school until closing and worked 12 hour weekends for $6/hour under the table. I then had an awesome job working the best family owned jeweler. They treated me like family. Again, I worked a lot through high school and beginning of college until I decided I wanted to be a model at 19. That was rough, unstable, but oh so fun. I got my thick skin from modeling, especially being a short model. There was a lot of rejection. There were even weirder situations that put a shadow over the sunshine and rainbows of a world I lived in as a kid. I tried my luck in Vegas and realized that the scene wasn’t for me. I did this twice. I tried the corporate world and enjoyed a stable paycheck, loved my title and felt like I had a “big girl job.” But, less than two years in I had the opportunity to pursue dance and travel for major productions like EDC, Paradiso and more. I danced since junior high and after college, I thought dancing was over for me. When my corporate job didn’t grant me the weekend I needed off for a performance in Seattle, I put in my two weeks notice the next day. Without a plan and not many savings, I decided to make a living dancing. I did this for four months until I needed something more. The story goes on and on. I struggled with the fact that as a well educated, hard working woman, I still lacked doing something that moved me. From being the golden child to be my parents’ greatest worry and headache, I was under a lot of pressure to “get my life together.” It’s an ongoing battle, but I no longer see it as a battle, but a journey. My passions will always change, but as I discovered more of who I am and who I want to be, my path keeps getting clearer. The moral of this rambling excerpt is: always do you.

Please tell us about Bodcor.

Over the span of 4-5 weeks, I get to be their accountability partner and join them in their transformation. The results and the confidence that builds after each session is exactly the type of heartwarming positivity we could absolutely use more of.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I could say that everything happens for a reason and all of the events in my life led me to where I am now. However, if I had to start over, I would tell my early 20’s self to focus on your goals 100% and that the right love will come when it’s supposed to. I sometimes imagine how much farther I’d be in my career, travels, and business endeavors if I didn’t get sidetracked by relationships. Live, love, learn, I suppose, but if you’re going to invest your life in someone else, don’t stop investing in yourself to do so.
