Meet Shawone White of Chocolate Chic Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawone White.

Hi Shawone, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Shawone Michelle White, but everyone calls me CoCo. I am a wife, mother of two gifted boys, self-made entrepreneur, and a through-and-through church girl! I have always had a passion for fashion and all things accessories.  I am known to be a jack of all trades, dabbling in event planning, designing, hosting, cooking, and baking treats, and certified in human services.

All of these trades,  with God, helped shape the businesswoman I am today. My business started as a jewelry-making hobby. I was a stay-at-home mom, and after having my children, I went through a stage where I didn’t feel good about my appearance. I remember getting ready to leave the house and looking in the mirror, and it was like something was missing. I put on some accessories I had made for myself and I felt better. “I looked good, so it made me feel good” The hobby quickly became a flourishing business. It was called Three Doves Decor & Accessories, est. 2017. With the growth of our first son and increasing sales, I turned to vendors to purchase jewelry instead.

With the birth of my second son came the rebirth of Three Doves. With the help of my husband, I rebranded the business and devoted time to full-time selling. With the rebrand came a new name, Chocolate Chic Boutique LLC, and a vision of an online shop with growth towards brick and mortar. I knew one day, with hard work, I would work my way up from small beginnings in a smaller location to a larger one.

Sharing this vision with my husband, he encouraged me to start looking for a building, and eventually, we would get there. With the mighty move of God, even before launching the website, we had a location. God blessed us in one year to open a store and flourish. Going into our second year of having a store, we opened a new location double the size of our first location! On November 6, 2021, we had the grand opening of the new location for Chocolate Chic Boutique! We are excited about the favor that God has already placed on our business. God has flourished my business into a place where I can connect with the old-school crowd and the new through the world of accessories!  My goal is to prove that every day is a fashion show and the world is our runway, and I am here to supply the accessories to boost one’s self-esteem at a time!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many struggles and obstacles in our journey, the biggest being the pandemic. During the pandemic, everyone was in their homes and not going anywhere there wasn’t any need for accessories let alone shopping. So, our business had very many struggles in staying open and just keeping the faith to continue the brand.

However, I couldn’t stop. Another obstacle is being a mother of two amazing son’s one being non-verbal and diagnosed with ASD. As parents, it has been a great struggle to run a small business and be devoted to our children so at times the business has been closed due to make sure our children are well taken care of. God has given us great customers that have continued to support us in every way!!

We’ve been impressed with Chocolate Chic Boutique LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize in a one-stop-shop experience for your accessory needs when perfecting your perfect look. The thing that sets us apart is our bundle feature with purses/hats/and jewelry combinations to complete a whole look at a great price.

I am most proud of the growth and the vision God has given me! Even in the struggle of the pandemic, we have been able to sustain, grow and touch people’s lives through accessories. Adding one special touch to an outfit can not only complete the look but build confidence.
