Meet Sharon Skaar of TreCeuticals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Skaar.

Hi Sharon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sharon- As a former Wall Street executive, I cut my teeth during a 25-year career in executive management at the nation’s largest financial institution, JP Morgan & Chase. I navigated a male-dominated industry to manage sales teams of hundreds of people across the Western Hemisphere, with a portfolio representing over half a billion dollars. After retiring in 2007 to Scottsdale, Arizona, I seized the opportunity to travel the world and became involved with local organizations, which is where I discovered my passion for charity. In 2019, I came out of retirement to launch Treceuticals with my co-founder, Erin Dodd. As TreCeuticals’ CEO, I’m on a mission to disrupt the skincare industry from the inside out.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sharon- Starting a new business at any age is hard but starting a new business after years of retirement AND during the pandemic was especially difficult! However, we’re incredibly passionate about skincare and growing my business to support and give back to my community. Here at TreCeuticals we love to get involved in local organizations such as Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, and each month, we donate a portion of proceeds to female focused foundations.

Erin: TreCeuticals was born on the back of a cocktail napkin one night while we were sitting around a fire pit… just two friends and a conversation that would change our lives overnight. We launched TreCeuticals in 2020 with no idea what roadblocks were in store for us. The pandemic was announced a few days before our website was going to launch. From packing orders in the garage, to weighing postage on a weight watchers scale, to business meetings at the kitchen table, Sharon and I have been on a rollercoaster of a journey. Thankfully our business (and friendship!) has continued to persevere throughout all our challenges and we’re so proud to see how TreCeuticals has grown!

Tell us more about your story. What sets you apart from others?
TreCeuticals is the first skincare line of its kind to combine scientifically proven active ingredients formulated at medical strength, infused with full spectrum CBD.   We took the best of nature and science to give you smoother, brighter, younger looking skin. It was late when two retired friends, Sharon Skaar and Erin Dodd, were enjoying wine around a fire pit in Scottsdale, AZ and began a conversation that would soon change their lives forever. They talked about what many women talk about –skincare and the aesthetic movement; what they liked and didn’t like and the self-esteem that goes along with having glowing skin. As the wine flowed, so did the creativity, and their conversation moved to the back of a cocktail napkin. With thousands of products on the market, they wanted to develop a powerful line that would be easy to use, with minimal steps. They set out to create not just a status quo skincare line but rather a game-changer.

Without knowing how dramatically the world would be changing in 2020 and all the challenges to come, Sharon and Erin set out on a journey with determination and resilience to disrupt the skincare industry by providing simple, uncompromising, gender-neutral products for all skin types. Sharon, a former Wall Street banker, spent over 25 years in executive management, with a track record of leadership, innovation and known for achieving results through outside-the-box problem solving.

Erin, known in the luxury fashion world for creating successful teams with creativity and innovation to drive long-term results, blended their gifts of critical and creative thinking. This balance proved to be the perfect recipe for success and TreCeuticals, a WOMEN-OWNED and WOMEN-POWERED company, was born.

Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business?
At the top of our lists are our husbands, Chris and Cliff.  They are our back bones, our foundations, and our biggest cheerleaders.  We would not be here without their constant support and love.

We knew from the beginning that we needed to find like-minded people who knew what we didn’t know and bring an array of talents into our circle.  Over the past three years our circle has widened and now spans across the world.  We have many mentors, friends, colleagues, peers, and 1099 employees that inspire, motivate and awe us every single day.  Our team, (family) is truly amazing, and we are growing in so many ways.  Also, our “TreC” community is expanding by leaps and bounds and we are beyond grateful and thankful for the people of Arizona and in our own neighborhood of Scottsdale for all your support and love of our brand.

What are your plans for the future?
