Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Volk.
Hi Shannon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m almost native to Arizona. Moved here from Michigan as a child and was raised in the valley. I moved to Denver for a decade before returning to be close to family. I have seen Scottsdale change from a small western town to a metropolitan city. I spent many years in corporate America working as a Project Manager for large Fortune 500 companies running multi-million global projects and running an IT staffing company in town. I loved making a difference in people’s lives and seeing the impact of how we were helping people make career choices that were having a huge impact on their families and the businesses that we supported. After spending several years in the industry, I no longer felt the excitement as I did when I first started. The company I was with was transforming into a different model through several cycles of executive management and my own rebuilding a market team here in the valley. It was something I was no longer feeling passion for and started looking within. I have always loved real estate. In 2016 after much thought, I kept thinking about getting my license. I started talking to people in the industry and learning about how to make the transition. I also met my real estate mentor and beau. In late 2017, I enrolled in real estate school. I jumped in two feet in 2018 and joined him in real estate. We worked primarily in the Sedona market. In the summer of 2020, I left his brokerage and joined Platinum Living Realty as an independent agent. I now work in both the Scottsdale area in addition to Sedona. Both markets have synergy in working with clients looking for vacation homes, retiring and moving to the sunbelt who love Arizona, and people looking to invest in a property they can use part-time as well as monetize their homes as short-term rentals. I personally have experience finding, getting them running and living the lifestyle.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Every day I’m open about the learning opportunities I’ve experienced. First, after spending the majority of my life working for others, I quickly adapted to what it looked like financially as an entrepreneur. Saving and budgeting to get through months of nothing were different than a paycheck every other week.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a real estate professional. I specialize in working with people in the Scottsdale and Sedona areas in finding their luxury vacation homes. I enjoy hearing when my clients share the memories they are making in their properties. I get excited when my clients get a taste of owning more than own property and benefit monetarily from appreciation, tax deductions and rental income.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mentor and beau has played a role in learning about general real estate, development, and creative financing.
