Meet Shannon Roselius

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Roselius.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My husband and grew up in the same town, but it wasn’t until we were expecting our first child that my passion for photography really blossomed. Something about my baby girl made me want to capture those precious little everyday moments, to document swiftly passing time so I could recall details that I’d otherwise forget. Now that we travel the world serving our country, my job as a mother is my number one focus. I’m a full-time mom, part-time photographer! Change is tough, but my kids’ strength and resiliency help me to rebuild my business everywhere we go. My family is my inspiration, and the reason why I choose to serve others in our military community worldwide!

Please tell us about your art.
Most families and couples I work with are celebrating homecoming reunions, anniversaries, new babies, and the start of a new chapter in their lives. They are real people with real struggles and challenges that present themselves in everyday life. Living in the moment is really tough sometimes, but my passion lies in helping people step back from the technology and be truly present in their lives!

Photography allows moms the chance to be in the family portraits for once. Expecting mothers are able to celebrate the beauty of pregnancy and their impending bundle of joy. Couples can take a break from the wedding planning and just be together, reveling in their unique love story. Photography creates a beautiful representation of the way people feel living in the present, and also gives them the gift of joyful memories. There’s truly nothing like looking back on a moment in time and remembering how you felt happier than ever!

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
Absolutely our role has changed. There is a lot of negativity breeding through public outlets, and it’s essential for artists of all types to show compassion, love, and positivity through our work. People need to see that there is beauty in uniqueness, and in that, we are all united. Encouraging others to find the beauty in the everyday is essential to my passion, and self-empowerment has had the biggest influence on my art. Embracing our differences and staying true to oneself brings us together in our communities, and there is no better ripple effect than that.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I share my work predominantly through social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and my professional portfolio. In addition to the online presence, I also attend military spouse events, collaboration events with other creatives, and events that focus on female entrepreneurs and influencers!

Feedback is important to me, because growth can never happen if we don’t know what to work on. I love hearing from past and current clients, and well as visitors just popping in to say hi!
