Meet Shane Travis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Travis.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m following in the footsteps of my father who was in “RocLochner,” a popular Arizona rock band back in the 80s. I was blessed with the opportunity to be surrounded by both music and musical instruments since I was just a child. All the musicians in my family are self-taught, but in middle school, I attended Arizona School for the Arts where I was taught how to formally read music. Recently, I graduated from ASU in 2018, and I’m pursuing a career in the music industry as a solo artist. I write, record, and produce all of my original music at my home studio. Two of my singles, in particular, were lucky enough to be played on air by 88.7 FM The Pulse. Currently, I have a five-piece band that performs locally at venues such as Copper Blues and the Valley Bar. My goal is to play shows out of state in California, Oregon, and Washington within the next year.

Please tell us about your art.
I create music that is is meant for easy listening. I’m greatly inspired by artists such as John Mayer and Jack Johnson, and I feel that writing music is my greatest form of expression. At times I have social anxiety, so I’ll replay scenes in my head and make them a bit more idealistic in the stories that I put into my music. I play multiple instruments but the guitar is my main writing tool, and I can’t live a day without picking up a guitar.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Go to performances! If you’re at another artists’ shows, they’re (usually) really cool about talking to other musicians after their show. Just be honest, outgoing, and polite.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My website www.shanetravis.com contains my entire discography and all the necessary links to listen to it. My band plays at local venues mostly in the downtown area, and I announce the shows either through my social media or website.
