Meet Shanae Kidd of Girl Hi Boutique in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanae Kidd.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shanae. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I come from a family of all girls (three of us sisters) & our mother who raised us all at a young age. We didn’t have a lot growing up, but one thing my mother made sure to do was to always dress us up in the cleanest and cutest clothing possible. This stuck with me because although we went through hardships ranging from financial struggles to racism (my mother is white, our father is black) & prejudice living in a predominately white town in Utah, our mom was always thoughtful in how we were presented. Looking back, this set the precedence for me that feeling great on the outside can translate into how you feel on the inside. To this day, I can be having a rough day and throw on my favorite dress and although it doesn’t cure everything, it sure can change my mood for the better. That is my goal for Girl Hi Boutique, to provide unique and fun clothing that women can feel amazing and confident in. After making strides in the corporate world and through education via my MBA, I still had the urge to express myself creatively and follow a dream of mine from an early age and open my own business serving women as we truly rule the world! I am so happy to have made my way to Phoenix and share my passion to the women of Arizona and across the US and beyond 🙂

Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all! If it’s easy, it probably not worth having. The biggest struggles were probably thinking I needed to know absolutely everything before launching and the pressures I put on myself to ensure it was “perfect”. I learned nothing is perfect, perfect is boring and starting with uncertainly will get you further than waiting for that “perfect moment”. Having an accountability partner is key along with having the grace to hire or ask for help with you need it!

Currently, I manage all operations myself! Girl Hi Boutique is for the modern woman who wants to stand out, be herself, and have fun while doing it. We are known for our unique clothing pieces and encouraging confidence via clothing. I am most proud of the inclusivity the brand stands for, we want to provide a dope outfit and have women walk into that brunch, party, date and say “Girl Hi!”

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely! Being born and raised in Utah, moving to Arizona has been a breath of fresh air. The amount of business in all sectors is amazing! From tech to food, to events, shopping and so much more I have grown to love the possibilities Phoenix has to offer. I am looking forward to making more connections in the fashion industry here!
