Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Korey.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up in Scottsdale, AZ, I began playing tennis at the age of 10. I was ranked among the top 50 players in the United States throughout my junior career and was the 1990 Arizona State High School Singles Champion. After high school, I went on to play tennis at the University of Kansas where I was crowned a Big Eight Champion. After graduating from college, I began teaching tennis lessons and realized my passion was to share the love of the sport with junior players of all levels.
Seth Korey Tennis Academy was founded in 1996, beginning with a few group clinics and some private lessons, we now offer camps, clinics, private lessons, and 40 school programs at our academy of over 500 students per year. I take great pride in watching my students grow and learn to play this amazing lifelong sport.
Has it been a smooth road?
There are always struggles when owning a business. My biggest struggle has been finding the right instructors to uphold the academy’s philosophy. Another struggle has been keeping up with this generation where kids are more interested in technology than activities.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Seth Korey Tennis Academy specializes in junior tennis, beginning at the age of 3. Our niche is providing one of the best atmospheres in the entire southwest for students picking up a racket for the first time. I am so proud to introduce someone to their first shot. We believe that tennis is a lifelong sport for everyone and what separates us from others is that we provide tennis to every age group and every level, not just competitive tennis players.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, it is a great city for businesses like ours. The weather is perfect 90% of the time and in Scottsdale especially, many families are looking for extracurricular activities for their kids. Families are very easy to work with here and willing to support their children in tennis.
