Meet Sedona Holzinger of Soulful Sedona & Bioculture Retreats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sedona Holzinger

Hi Sedona, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi there! I’m Soulful Sedona, and WOW—what a journey it’s been! Growing up as a small-town girl in Wisconsin, I always felt a spark of curiosity and adventure in my heart. Movement has been a constant in my life, from my early days in cheer and dance to discovering how much joy and connection come from engaging with the body.

That spark of adventure led me to Arizona, where I attended ASU to study Human and Family Development. I became deeply fascinated by how our minds and identities are shaped, especially as we transition from adolescence to adulthood. This knowledge became the foundation for understanding the mind-body-soul connection, which later became a guiding force in my life.

From there, I pursued my NASM personal training certification and helped hundreds of people reach their goals and heal through movement. Even during the pandemic, I adapted by hosting live classes from my garage, online, and was part of a team that built Todd Smith Fitness in Phoenix. Main mission was to create spaces of health, strength, and connection during a time when many needed it most.

But my own inner journey called me to explore more. Meditation and breath-work became my daily anchors, tools that helped me deepen my connection to myself. This path led me to Costa Rica, where I earned my 200-hour yoga teacher certification—a transformative experience that shifted my life in incredible ways.

Listening to my heart, I made another leap: leaving behind a rooted lifestyle to embrace a nomadic one. I chose to travel, not just to see the world, but to discover more of myself and my purpose. This decision has been life-changing. Traveling has gifted me opportunities to learn from diverse cultures, meet inspiring souls, and expand my own practice in ways I never imagined.

Today, I feel so grateful to facilitate retreats, hold space for sacred ceremonies, and work with private groups, 1:1 clients, and an online community of women seeking growth and healing.

This ‘soul’ journey has been the most unexpected, magical, and fulfilling quest of my life. My mission is to help raise the vibration of our collective through healing, love, and authenticity. Every step I’ve taken has been guided by intuition, and I’m endlessly thankful to share this path with others seeking their own transformation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life is full of obstacles—or as I like to call them, side quests. These experiences have shaped me into who I am today. I grew up in a home marked by alcohol addiction and poor communication, which planted early seeds for resilience, self-awareness, and the understanding that life is a balance of light and shadow. On top of that, I’ve faced my own health battles, including allergies, countless prescribed medications, and severe asthma attacks—one of which brought me to flat-lining, and coming back from it! Talk about a new lens on life.

Tuning into my body, I learned to trust my intuition. I stopped relying on medications and began going inward to truly heal. I shifted to an all-natural lifestyle, nourishing my body with whole foods, clearing my mind with mindful practices, and grounding my soul with moments of presence and prayer. This journey of self-care and holistic health taught me the importance of embracing both the light and the dark, finding balance in all things, and living authentically and soulfully.

About five years ago, during my personal training era, I was a dedicated gym girl—spending hours training and pushing my body. But eventually, my body began to push back. I experienced severe neck and back pain that radiated through my body, cutting off feeling in my legs and leaving me in one of the darkest periods of my life. It felt like everything I knew had been stripped away. That low point became a turning point, forcing me to reevaluate how I cared for myself—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

This shift led me to my yoga practice, a profound space of healing and transformation. Yoga taught me to move with intention, listen to my body, and honor its wisdom. Along the way, I experienced a deep soul awakening. I connected with myself, spirit, and the universal energy that surrounds us. I began to break free from the systems and beliefs that no longer served me, stepping fully into my truth, with a deeper understanding that everything has its opposite—light and dark, joy and pain, success and failure.

There have been many challenges along the way, but I’ve consciously chosen to keep moving forward, to learn, and to grow. These moments of struggle have become my greatest teachers, reminding me that balance is not about avoiding difficulty, but embracing it as part of the journey. Even in the darkest times, there is light—and that light is within us all, woven into the very fabric of our being.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
When I think back to my childhood, I’m immediately filled with memories of being outside, fully immersed in the magic of nature. I was a barefoot explorer, spending my days building snow forts in the winter, biking down endless trails, jumping into piles of leaves, and getting my hands dirty in the garden. Planting flowers and vegetables with my family was a favorite ritual, one that connected me to the Earth and her cycles.

Nature wasn’t just my playground; it was my teacher and sanctuary. Whether it was the crunch of leaves underfoot or the feeling of the sun on my skin, every moment outside filled me with joy, wonder, and an innate sense of presence. I learned the value of slowing down, observing the world, and being fully in the moment.

That spirit of curiosity and connection shaped who I am today. Those early lessons from Pachamama still guide me—reminding me to stay rooted, playful, and grateful for the simple yet profound gifts of the natural world. Nature has always been my greatest inspiration and continues to be my grounding force.
