Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Terranova.

Hi Scott, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off playing drums in a band in college for a hundred bucks and a bar tab. My father called me my sophomore at Mount Union College and asked if my bands PA system was able to play music for an event at an event for the Garfield Hts Muni Hockey League. I replied, “I am not a DJ”, to which my dad replied, “well they are paying $400”, I immediately said, “I guess i’m a DJ”. Thats hoe Sound Precision Entertainment was born.

Since then we have also started Cuff Link Media, a premier Photo and Video company. The wedding tandem has formed a wedding power couple in Cleveland Ohio that offers newly engaged the ability to bundle entertainment, photo, and video services saving people time and money! We are the only operation at scale of this kind in town!

DJ & emcee are the cornerstones of what we do. Sound Precision Entertainment boasts a roster of some of the most talented Cleveland Wedding DJ’s and experienced individuals. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a wedding DJ and entertainment company like Sound Precision Entertainment in Cleveland, Ohio, hasn’t always been a smooth road. Here are some of the struggles we’ve faced along the way:

Financial Constraints: In the early days, securing enough capital to invest in top-quality sound systems, lighting, and other equipment was a major challenge. We had to be resourceful with our finances, often reinvesting every dollar we earned back into the business to ensure we could deliver the best experience for our clients.

Building a Client Base: Establishing ourselves in a competitive market like Cleveland took time. We had to work hard to earn the trust of couples and event planners, and building a solid reputation was a gradual process. Word-of-mouth referrals and positive reviews became crucial as we worked to get our name out there.

Hiring the Right Team: As we grew, finding talented DJs and entertainers who shared our passion and commitment to excellence was vital. Attracting the right talent wasn’t always easy, especially in the beginning, when we couldn’t offer the perks of larger, more established companies.

Managing Cash Flow: Managing our cash flow, especially during the off-season, was another hurdle. Balancing the need to invest in new equipment and marketing while ensuring we could cover our operational costs required careful planning and discipline.

Developing a Marketing Strategy: With so many entertainment options available in Cleveland, we had to work hard to find the most effective ways to reach our target audience. Crafting a marketing strategy that resonated with engaged couples and event organizers took time and experimentation.

Time Management: Running a wedding DJ and entertainment company means juggling many roles—sales, marketing, event planning, and performing. Balancing all these responsibilities, especially in the early days, was challenging but necessary to ensure the company’s growth.

These struggles were part of the journey, shaping Sound Precision Entertainment into the company it is today. They’ve helped us grow stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to serve our clients and deliver unforgettable experiences.

When I am not making memories that last a lifetime I have a beautiful wife, Jillian of 11 years who is a fantastic kindergarten teacher at Keystone City Schools and an amazing mother to my two kids Gianna, 8 and Danny, 5.

We also have a 10 year old pup named Charlie that we adore.
