Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott St Gelais.
Hi Scott, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I developed my passion for computers in the early ’90s when I went back to school for Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD). Just days into my classes, I got my first computer—a 286 running DOS 5 and Windows 3.1—and from that point on, my life changed forever. By the time I completed my studies, I had two computers and even set up a token-ring network, which was the norm before Ethernet took over.
For thirteen years, I worked as a system administrator and IT manager focused on Windows-based workstations and servers within the architectural community. In 2001, I began IT consulting during my off-hours, and then in 2008, when the building industry collapsed, I found myself unemployed. Drawing from my experience in IT consulting, I decided to turn it into my full-time gig and founded Geeks in Phoenix.
Throughout the years, I’ve made it a priority to keep Geeks in Phoenix at the forefront of emerging technologies. I’m proud to say that my company is a member of the Microsoft Partner Network and an Intel Technology Provider Gold Partner. Recently, I completed the IT Support Professional Certificate from Google on Coursera to further my skills and knowledge in the field.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The death of my wife in 2013 was a challenging experience to cope with.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
