Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Jenkins.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Scott. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am originally from the Midwest, moving to the Phoenix area about nine years ago. Over the last 20 years I had worked in the automotive industry, working my way up from a salesman to owner, and everything in between. During those years, I spent a lot of time working to diversify my skills and income, and over that time concurrently, I started a rental business that I continue to work with a property management team to run to this day.
Throughout the years, I have really enjoyed all the positions I have held, particularly working as a manager and owning a business. I have enjoyed the challenges that working in the automotive industry presented, and as a manager I really enjoy being able to empower people to overcome challenges and accomplish their own successes.
I enjoy being a business owner and building a business so for the last couple years I have been interested in pursuing other business opportunities. Hand in hand with the auto industry, I worked a lot with insurance agencies. I did quite a bit of research on the insurance industry, investigating which companies had the highest quality services, or whether to become an independent agent. After all the research I did, I found that Farmers Insurance was the best fit. Thanks to the right timing, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to assume an existing Farmers business ownership from an agent who had been with Farmers for 35 years, facilitating seamless continuity of care and services for his clients.
We are very excited about this opportunity! Myself with my wife Traci, and daughter Megan opened the Scott Jenkins Insurance Agency through Farmers Insurance April 1, 2019 in the Ahwatukee Foothills area. We love this area and the people we have met and continue to look forward to being a part of and serving this wonderful community.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business, in my experience, has always presented with both its share of ups and downs. Taking over a long existing cliental has been challenging to assure our clients that we are capable of providing and guaranteeing the same high level of excellent quality and service that made them stay with their existing agent for all those years. The transition for the most part has been smooth, and the existing clients have been so kind and patient with us as we have got settled in. We are incredibly fortunate that we have a wonderful team of three plus my family, which includes myself, my office manager Jennifer, and our marketing director Troy. Together we have been able to provide consistency for our clients who love the fact they talk to the same person each time they contact us. I am blessed that the team, as I do, believes that everyone we insure is part of our agency family. That is how I view everyone who does business with us. My job as their insurance agent is to protect our clients and their assets and to look out for their best interests much like a family member does.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
We are a Farmers Insurance Agency. We do specialize in insurance products and provide every type of coverage from home and auto, business, life, and everything in between, with exception of health insurance, which if that is something you need I can help with that I have a few select people I trust to refer to assist with those types of services.
I think the company line is we specialize in property and casualty, life, and small business insurances. What our individual agency personally specializes in are two things. We care about our clients. Our clients are our family. I do believe this through and through. For me it is all about the relationships that we create with our clients, and like with all relationships they require consistent nourishment and attention to be healthy and strong. This is what we try to provide. We want to always be available, we are always looking out for our client’s best interests and well-being, and we will always be honest if we do not feel we can provide what our clients are looking for or there is something better. We try to over and beyond for everyone. I think it is the right thing to do, first of all, but it is the one thing that makes us stand out from the rest of the competition. I have also built many relationships over the years with other high quality and trustworthy business partners from all different types of industries and feel confident that if you are in need of a certain type of service, I can help refer to the right people that can be trusted to do a great job.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have worked hard over our first year to establish ourselves in the community and with our existing clients as well as the new clients we have gained. We do not have any big changes planned at this time other then we look forward to adding team members who share our vision and mission to our agency family as our business continues to grow.
