Meet Scott Fitsimones of AirGarage in ASU Campus Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Fitsimones.

Founded in January of 2017 by ASU students Scott Fitsimones and Jonathon Barkl, and based in Tempe, Arizona, AirGarage is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, find, and book convenient and affordable parking around the world — online or from a mobile phone or tablet.

AirGarage allows homeowners, churches and businesses to supplement their income and funds their passions by tapping into a previously unused resource — their empty driveways and parking lots. Meanwhile, drivers are saving money and parking more conveniently.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some challenges we have faced include getting users accustomed to the idea of sharing their driveway to earn money each month. Sometimes it feels scary to do something different, to take .a risk, and so a big part of our challenge is educating consumers to how our platform works, giving them the power to choose when a space is available, and showing people that AirGarage is relieving parking pain and gathering people behind our mission to make parking easy and affordable.

AirGarage – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
AirGarage is a parking marketplace that connects drivers and spot owners, making parking easy and affordable. We have a web app used by hundreds of students and employees at Arizona State University who use our network to save money on parking.

We are most proud of how we help people in small ways – helping a retired lady earn a little extra each month, helping a student save enough money to pay back student loans early. We hear stories like this that motivate us to free up more parking and help bring prices down.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for our AirGarage marketplace has a few definitions. It’s how many people’s lives we touch, how many people we help save a few extra dollars so they can get a movie ticket instead of burning it on parking.

For us, it means expanding to the entire southwest, soon Tucson and the UC schools.
