Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Drummond.
Hi Scott, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started this business back in 2007 with just a truck and a trailer. Now we have 3 mobile units servicing the entire valley. Also a shop in Gilbert. I was a young kid when my dad showed me how to polish and wax one of his cars, he was an outside sales rep with a company car.
Something that day stuck with me, I was polishing my bike, my friends’ bikes even our riding lawn mower. When I was in high school and college I went around to dealerships with a buffer seeing if they need any cars buffed out, $50 for a car back in the ’80s and ’90s was big money for a student! Now we are the highest-rated auto detailing service in Arizona, with over 400 5-star reviews on Yelp.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The only struggles as of late are finding good employees that want to work for 1 and then take pride in their work. Besides the normal ebb and flow of business that’s pretty much it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I went to UConn and received a business degree.
Upon graduation, I became an outside sales rep for FedEx in Long Island NY. After 10 years with FedEx, I moved out to Phoenix for a change of scenery. I was an outside sales rep selling litigation support services to all of the big law firms in downtown Phoenix. Then in 2007 I decided to start my own detailing business and haven’t looked back since.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Cars, obviously family, wife (love) – she saved my life, I was 50 relatively healthy guy, and fell out of bed having a heart attack, She started doing CPR until paramedics arrived and I had an emergency stent placed, then while recovering from that I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer, that was all 2 years ago, I am currently cancer free, I am now even healthier than I was at 21!
Dogs – Absolutely love dogs!
I definitely dislike cancer, seeing firsthand what it does to people and even little kids, no bueno!
