Meet Savannah Elizabeth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Elizabeth.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
A classic quirky artistic middle child at heart, you’ll usually find me cracking dad jokes with your father, and also bonding with your grandfather over our mutual hearing loss. (100% deaf in my right ear since birth.) I thrive off of sarcasm, puns, and a ridiculous amount of color.

Growing up with hearing loss and just overall a shy kid, I created my own world as a child where I didn’t have to feel badly about not being able to hear very well. I’ve always loved to create and started my journey behind the camera lens as a way to be a part of everything from an observant point of view instead of the midst of it all. Now as an adult, I have gone through a heart procedure and a lot of unknowns with my health and life in general and photography is still my outlet to get through the tough stuff.

Originally from Northern California, I’ve lived on a dairy farm in New Zealand, a shack in the jungle of Hawaii and along the coast of Australia. Now I call Arizona home, but I will always be a wandering soul. Forever seeking something, I live and breathe through creation and connection. I have two sisters and spend most my time with my boyfriend Ben, exploring around Arizona.

I am also an Esthetician and work as a Community Host at The Department Coworking in downtown Phoenix. I’ve been an au pair/nanny for years, a housekeeper at a wellness retreat, a content creator, on the Spotify Artist Services team, created customized flip flops, planned countless events and many other random paths.

My aspirations change daily, my passions remain endless, my dreams and goals are all over the spectrum. But photography has always been a consistent source of expression for me.

Has it been a smooth road?
No path is smooth. And no path goes in only one direction. As with most things in life, I have walked back and forth on my journey with photography endless times. Walking towards confidence and success, to easily be redirected to comparison and anxiety.

Photographers are always looking up. Have you ever tried to walk smoothly down a path while looking up? You stumble, you stray off course, you trip and fall. Yet, you see things and experience moments you would of never stumbled upon if you were looking down.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road for me to get where I am today. But I can say that even when I have taken two steps forward and one step back, I have always looked up. And that makes the rough path worth it.

A poem I wrote for creators during Covid-19 times:

In times of darkness, we create anyway.
Instead of staying stagnant, we dance.
Staying in place, imaginations run wild.
Filled with worry, we shed feelings onto canvases.
Pen to paper, paintbrush to easel.
Make-do art, makeshift heart.
Stuck at home, our minds start to roam.
Turn off the fearful news, paint your emotions in different hues.
In times of crisis, they say we turn to artists.
The poets recite, the authors write.
Singing our collective blues, musicians become the music.
Art comes from the soul.
In times of spirit crushing fear, masterpieces appear.
Photographers look within, stretching their bodies from behind the lens to self muse-ment.
The earth heals, the artist feels.
During crisis, we turn to the arts.
Creators create, it is our fate.
In times of darkness, we create anyway.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Savannah Elizabeth Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Photography for me is a way of being a storyteller who shares stories of the beauty and pain of the world through color and imagery. Through moments turned into paintings. Through feelings turned into poetry. I am a dreamer with a deep desire to create and connect. A seeker with a passion to evoke emotion and capture the raw ordinary moments of life.

THE MOMENTS THAT MAKE YOU LOOK UP + FEEL. Photographs that feed your soul and capture the image you feel deep in your heart. That evokes feelings unable to be said through words. Special memories you can look back at and see all the words written in those moments, creating a poem.

Photography is a way for me to deal with pain and heartache. With anxiety and despair. I want my images to showcase all aspects of life in all its messy entirety. Photography for real people and not just for beautiful models and Pinterest moments. My style is colorful and candid. Soft lines resembling a painting, the little moments in between that are often forgotten about, vibrant images that tell a story.

I enjoy the art of creating in a way that speaks to the raw authentic soul and bridges the gaps in the community around me. No cheese, no fluff, no gimmicks, no comparison. The average people of the world in all their unique realness.

Today, my passions lie in helping other people create their own world through creation. Creative concepts and portraits, family memories, special moments like graduations, engagements, weddings, events. I also work with brands and businesses to create content that showcases their brand’s soul.

I dabble in a mix of all types of photography.

But what I am really passionate about capturing is colorful concepts. Telling a visual story through color and imagery. I love to intertwine poetry, painting and photography into one.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Phoenix is a diverse group of artists and creators. I have lived here on and off for the last six years and am always inspired by the hidden gems and artistic souls I have encountered here. The grand beauty of the majestic desert and natural wonders of northern AZ hold a special place in my heart.

Growing up in CA weather, I will never be okay with the heat of Arizona. And the lack of color. Phoenix is mainly beige and I HATE that aspect of it.
