Meet Sarah Winkelman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Winkelman.

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved taking pictures of my food and sending them to my family. I watched food videos on Instagram and loved seeing other people post their restaurant reviews and recipes. One day, I started my account and started posting reviews. I started off as @Eatingwithsarahwink, which is specific to me personally. After talking with my friends about how to grow my account, I changed it to @Phoenix_fixins_ to get a wider variety of followers!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was stuck at the same follower count from a long time. I didn’t know how to grow my account or how to take better pictures to be more intriguing. I needed to shift my account to attract different people!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full-time public high school math teacher during the day, which I really enjoy! I hope to make my food adventures my full-time job one day, but I like having it as a part-time gig right now!

What matters most to you? Why?
My family is everything to me, especially during this pandemic. It was hard being so far away from them which most of them living in Chicago. I’m incredibly thankful for family Zoom sessions and facetime to see all of the people who matter most to me!
