Meet Sara Jahan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Jahan.

Sara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always felt that I needed everything to be figured out and that I could only focus on one thing, and then I realized that I wasn’t bound to one thing. I have many passions and aspirations that I hope to continue, including: acting, writing, and music. Acting is what I love doing most because I feel that it is a playground for adults. It gives the opportunity to be whatever I want and helps me deal with things in a creative way. I decided one day that I was going to take my fate into my hands and decided that I’m going to actually pursue this path and see where it leads me. I began taking acting classes, watching videos online on how to better myself as an actress, and even was in a couple of films. And all the while, I still continued everyday with my poetry and guitar. They help me express my emotions in an artistic way, and it helps me deal with whatever issues I face in a healthier manner. It also helps improve my acting because I’m more in touch with my feelings, and I am so thankful that I have these different forms of art to express myself.

Has it been a smooth road?
The main obstacle and struggle that I’ve faced is with myself. I always hold myself back because I don’t always think that the effort I put into things comes out the way I want it to. I always second guess myself, and hold myself back from good opportunities. For example, I wanted to major in acting at the U of A, but when it came to actually auditioning, I scared myself out of it. But I’m working on believing in myself everyday.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m an actress, but I truly love all aspects of the film industry. Whenever I have a chance, I try to write scripts or work on little aesthetic films to bring my visions to life. If I wasn’t aiming to be an actress, I would love to be a cinematographer, because I feel that I have a rather unique vision. I like filming things that have a personal touch to it. I aim to make the viewer feel that they are truly a part of what I’m sharing with them. I also have an obsession with horror, and I think that if given opportunities, I could perform or film it in a tasteful way that people would appreciate.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m planning on working as much as I can to achieve my goals of being an actress and writer. I hope that I can afford to move to LA or Atlanta so that I can audition consistently. And even while I am still in Arizona, I want to continue creating different forms of art. I never want to lose that. It’s a terrifying thought thinking that I’m only sixteen and have graduated and that I’m trying to be on my own and achieve success. But I know that even if I’m not a big actress, I will still have a feeling of success because I never ever plan on giving up my passions.
