Meet Sandy Wasserman, Realtor in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Wasserman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sandy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began my career in 1993 in Scottsdale working in the restaurant and wine industry. After over two decades I decided to make a career change and got my real estate license in 2016. I’d talked myself out of it several times over the years and my desire to help people make the biggest purchase decision of their life had me finally go for it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I thought I knew what I was getting myself into but there was more to it. People think you just put people in your car and look for a home, not so. Looking for the home is the easy part, the hard part is finding clients who are qualified and ready to buy or sell, most are just looking. Add in that everybody knows an agent or two, the many ways to market yourself it can be overwhelming and it takes a while to chart the path you want to take.

Please tell us about your work.
Having lived in Scottsdale for almost 27 years I chose to work in the Scottsdale & Phoenix real estate market. I like to help the first time home buyers find their first home. I remember my first home and not knowing where to begin and the process from getting qualified for a mortgage to taking ownership. Despite the internet, the process has gotten longer and more complex with timelines to meet and lots of documents.

I also enjoy helping those re-locate to the area and living the Arizona lifestyle. Whether pointing them to good hiking trails or letting them know of all that’s going on in the community I am more of a consultant than just helping people find a home.

Nowadays anybody can go online to search for a home and visit an open house. I specialize in finding people off/pre-market homes before they hit the internet. That’s even more important in our current market as good homes at the right price point and location can go quick. I like to give my clients every opportunity to find the best home and with my network of agents and knowing what’s going on in the neighborhoods I’ve been able to accomplish that.

I also write a blog focusing on local restaurants, food festivals, breweries and more called https://pullingcorksandforks.com/ that I started when I was in the wine & restaurant industry.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Hanging out with friends in the neighborhood playing Wiffle ball and Nerf football. Summers going away to sleep away camp and making new friends and experiencing fun outdoor activities like swimming in the lake and canoeing down the Delaware River.

I loved going to concerts and discovering my love for music and spending time with relatives on birthdays, holidays and celebrating other life milestones.
