Meet Sam Chang and Tina Chau of Slickables Ice Cream Sandwich in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Chang and Tina Chau.

Sam and Tina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Husband and wife team left the corporate world (Sam was an investment banker and Tina was a journalist) to go into business for ourselves. We drove across the country in 2011 in search of a location that was by a large college campus and in a warm climate. We opened our first location in Tempe followed by locations in Mesa, and Riverside, CA.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have certainly been challenges in learning how to operate in a new industry and later on growing the business efficiently when we became more successful.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Slickables Ice Cream Sandwich story. Tell us more about the business.
Slickables specializes in ice cream sandwiches made from freshly baked cookies that are made from scratch and premium ice cream. Our goal from the beginning has been to provide our customers great products at great prices.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The food industry which is part of the broad retail segment will also transition towards a more delivery oriented model.
