Meet Salisha Rigsbee of The Rigsbee Law Firm, PLLC in Biltmore Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Salisha Rigsbee.

Salisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started a free program in the community to discuss how to navigate the legal side of business in 2019. Through the program I saw the extreme need and demand for legal business services. The Rigsbee Law Firm was then birthed in January 2020 to be the solution. The firm was started as a way to assists startup entrepreneurs on their journey in business in an affordable and accessible manner. We have taken business cases pro bono, we offer free workshops, and we are always providing foundational skills for businesses to get started. Being a small business owner myself, we understand the need to get it right from the beginning and the difficult challenges that arise when you are starting off, often times the first business owner in your family with not clear guidance. We want to do our part in the community and building businesses that will last for years to come is our piece of hope to the next generation.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The main struggles have centered around the “what if” doubts in starting a business. worrying about what could happen, what may happen, what statistics say, and the entire gamut of reasons to not start. Not believing that others will see you for who you are. Believe in your cause. Support you or acknowledge your help. I have not experienced any of the actual what-ifs I worried about in starting a business. The community has supported me in ways I could have never imagined. To date the hardest parts of starting a business for me has been marketing and understanding algorithms.

Please tell us about the business.
From contracts to trademarks, The Rigsbee Law Firm specializes in providing small business owners with solutions to protect their brands. The Rigsbee Law Firm also provides risk assessments so that small business owners are aware of their blindspots. Being in a position to assist small business owners with protecting and growing their businesses is what Attorney Rigsbee stands behind.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
NOTHING. Everything I have been through has equipped me with who I am today. I am stronger, I am wiser, I am more grounded in my passion, and I own the space I am in. Starting over may seem like the easy choice, but I have always been up for a challenge and I prefer the bumpy roads. It makes the destination so much more rewarding.
