Meet Sai Phi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sai Phi.

Sai, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was a kid like many others, I struggled in school. I wasn’t very popular, so with my spare time I decided I would write music. It kind of all started as a joke to be honest. When some other kids in school noticed my friend and I making music they decided they’d start making fun of us. We went back and forth for a while making songs and during the process, I noticed I was kind of good at it. After many years of practice, I started to make my own music and put it out for people to hear. That went ok for a while but it wasn’t until I moved to Arizona and met Greydon Square that things took off. He noticed something special in my ability to make music and write lyrics so for years we expanded on what I already knew working on projects like “Low Technology” and my own personal album “Dimensions Disassembled” I’ve also been featured on ” Compton Scattering” by Greydon Square as well as some other side projects. All of that has lead me to my current album “Realities Reassembled” which is coming soon.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, the road has been a road which is all I can hope for but it’s had its ups and downs. Before I met Greydon Square, I had a five year period where I didn’t make music at all and actually thought I was done with it for good. Minus freestyling to beats in my car every time I was alone, I didn’t do much else. During this time I had a son, he’s Awesome. I tried to expand my technical knowledge on things like computers as well as other technological devices just so I could have some sort of a future. Little did I know I was gathering information that I would then write into my music so many years later. I’m thankful for what I have but none of it was easy.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Well, I’m a rapper but I choose to rap about things most people don’t. This includes Science fiction, Technology and things/changes I’d like to see in the world, mostly positive. I think what sets me apart from others is the fact that I’d like to give people the option for intelligent music, to use it to educate and inform while making sure it sounds dope. I know I can’t be the only person doing it but its really easy to blend these days unless you’re doing something not many others are doing. I’m apart of a collective called Grand Unified Created By “Greydon Square” “Tombstone da Deadman” and “Blue Picasso” three artists that genuinely want to make the world a better place through the expression of music.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think for me it would have to be the ability to keep moving forward no matter the cost. I have been told by many people I couldn’t make it. I’ve been asked what my “real” job is and unlike a lot of people, I don’t let it bother me. I keep putting out music while gaining more and more fans every day. Now my music has streamed through Spotify in over 25 countries and counting. I will push forward, no matter how hard it gets. Informing people about what is truly going on in this world is incredibly important to me.
