Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Eaglin.
Ryan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Early in my childhood, I learned pretty quickly how to handle life’s twists and turns. I learned about sharing, living with and handling different personalities, financial ups and downs, parental relationship problems and watching my father live a secret second life behind our backs. Drugs, affairs, and abuse against my mother were all a part of my early years.
Lots of siblings. Having a twin sister my parents time was automatically split. But I also have an older brother by nearly 3 years. My little sister followed when I was 7, then another brother when I was 10, after my mother remarried.
The dynamic was not one that was always ideal, there really was a lot of good in all of it as well. But I’m grateful and thankful for all the good and bad.
My mother was very loving, eventually mustering up the courage to divorce my father. Now single, and struggling of course financially to make sure her 4 children were provided for. Although times were tough she always managed and even though we may not have had what others had, we had her love and her courageous spirit guiding the 5 of us. We really never went without. She made sure we came first. There was food, clothes and a roof over our head. The most important stuff really. Although at times I remember huddling up to our gas stove, door open, to warm ourselves before school.
Church was an important part of our lives. My mother found her now husband, of 28 years, in the church’s single group. My step dad took on 4 children that were not his own. Shortly after, they had my little brother. My stepdad ultimately stepped up to the plate. Challenges were definitely still there. For a short period of time, we relied on food stamps, as my father wasn’t paying child support for his 4 children. But they pulled it off, eventually opening their own A/C & heating company.
For me, watching that struggle, overcoming wild challenges and ultimately prospering, helped do something inside of me.
I remember in my teens, I dreamed of being a Wall Street stockbroker. I knew they made good money and they helped people make money who were willing to take the risk to do so.
Life would hit me or shall I say my choices. Troubled teen years, my early twenties the same. It didn’t last long. At the age of 21, I lived next to a cemetery. I was struggling financially, lived on my own. I was hungry spiritually, mentally and physically. I knew there had to be more. I remember seeing the world around me and the wild success of people who made a big positive impact on others. I got angered. It was the fuel I needed. At the time I was a top sales rep at a high-end electronics store. I had a knack for wanting to help people. If it was a sweet entertainment set up that they wanted I wanted to help them achieve that. I had great work ethic, literally running around the store so as to not make my customer wait. Driving to their house to set up what they bought from me was common. I wanted to go above and beyond what they thought about an electronics salesman.
It wasn’t enough. My dream still lingered. I remember crying on my knees, praying for more, asking God to unleash the goodies I knew were inside of me.
I’d walk to the cemetery down the street. Looking at headstones, wondering what they may have brought the world. The dash that was in between the two dates. I’d see lots of flowers on some and some that seem to have not been visited in a very long time. I’d ponder how much of a positive impact these people played in others’ lives. If they were adults, did they do their best to live the dream they envisioned? Did they try to make a lasting mark in this world, a legacy? That was enough for me. My hunger grew, and I was determined to do something great and fulfilling with the gift God gave me.
Within two years my great uncle, rest his soul, came to me and said he noticed my behavior, and asked that I speak to his boss at an annuity and trust firm. I did exactly that. The owner Offered to bring me on as an unpaid intern. But to do so I’d face some serious financial hardships. I’d have to leave the security of my job and enter the world of faith. I still needed to pay my bills, so I got two-part time jobs (minimum wage) that would work around the internship. Seven days a week for 6 months I worked the 3 jobs. Faith was all I had. I surely didn’t have money. I trusted in God’s plan. That’s hard to do when your friends are partying and you’re working from 7 am to 11pm most days.
I got the green light! When the owner of the firm felt I was ready he released me into the wild with annuity cold call leads. The first day I sold two deals. The first month I broke the company sales record. It wasn’t that first day or that first month when I realized this was the career I dreamed of, it was during the internship. It was the moment I took that first step. The moment I said to myself “all or nothing”, the moment I told myself “I believe!”
After a few years of success with two firms, I eventually mustered up the courage and some resources including a small business loan and created Eaglin Financial Services which we are now doing business as America’s Annuity.
I can proudly say that my childhood, my teens and early twenties, all of it, is what lead me to where I am today. I’m grateful, blessed beyond measure and look at life’s challenges as gifts if they are used correctly.
My firm has helped thousands of pre-retirees and retirees live a safe and secure retirement with the products we offer and recommend. Although I fully recognize that’s it’s our clients and prospects that make my firm what is today. Without them, there is no, America’s Annuity.
We’ve seen wild success and are driven very hard to help as many as we can. We’ve been ranked top “3 best rated financial firm for 2017-2018. Also “best investment firm” best of the valley 2017-2018.
14 years and counting. What a journey!
I cannot forget my sweet and truly amazing son, Jaiden, 10 years old. It’s because of him I feel so strongly about leaving a legacy behind. Something he can be proud of. I want to teach him what I know, I want to be the father mine was not. No doubt this amazing child of mine has made me want to be a better person from A-Z.
America’s Annuity – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in annuities and life insurance. Our target market is retirees. We are known for offering the best annuities in the valley. I’m known as the “annuity prodigy”. We believe in full disclosure.
I’m most proud of being able to serve the community that has worked so hard to build their nest egg. My job, protect the nest and the egg. It’s truly fulfilling knowing I’m offering financial vehicles that are totally guaranteed, not many financial advisors can say that about their offerings.
I’ve designed an exclusive process, no one else has anything close. It’s a very in-depth but simple and fun “Annuity Questionnaire” this lets us see what our client’s desires, needs, goals and concerns are. It’s 14 questions but lets us dial in the right product for their very individual and special situation. Also, I designed an “Annuity Analyzer”, exclusive only to our clients. This one is for people who have annuities. We break it down for them. So many folks are shocked when they see the results of our findings.
Our company culture is one that follows into our personal lives. Integrity!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is not a dollar amount, a home, a car or something material.
It’s defined by me as the positive impact I have on others. A father who is financially successful in my eyes is not a success if he neglects his children. So being involved in the people’s lives around me, being present, loving and caring. This is happiness to me. Business success brings financial success and those are simply side effects of helping others get what the desire.
