Meet Robin Selby and Erin McNamara of Purple Lotus Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Selby and Erin McNamara.

Erin was doing readings at psychic fairs in Phoenix but when she got busy it was hard to keep track of the time, who was waiting and the money so she called her daughter Robin to help. This was tremendously helpful and very efficient. The next show Robin brought along some of her handcrafted greeting cards to see if they would sell and people loved them! From this Purple Lotus Productions was born in 2009.

Soon Erin was doing readings while Robin sold her cards and her artwork. Robin found her creative outlet in the events and a love for sharing her creations with others. Her creativity expanded to include jewelry and wall decor and more. Her creativity and her gifts continued to expand. Erin used her gifts of clairvoyance and clairaudience to help people by conveying messages to them from Spirit and from the other side.

Robin’s gifts empowered her to help people in a different way. Her Affirmation Kits evolved as a way to help empower people to bring about change in their lives. They are a tool for people to work on the areas of their life that they wanted to focus on and enabled them to ask for help or appeal to their personal Higher Power, for assistance in these areas.

What started as 3 varieties of kits, (Clarity, Prosperity and Love) containing an affirmation, or prayer or incantation depending on your verbiage, which is encrusted with specifically selected herbs to amplify the intention, a crystal and a candle, has expanded to include Affirmation Sprays for quick assistance and Affirmation Jewelry for more subtle and gradual change. As their reputations and client list grew it seemed that opportunities to meet the public in the small fairs and shows were diminishing.

Since there were not enough events to vend at they decided to begin producing events themselves. Within a year they had begun establishing the Embracing Your Journey Expos as it’s own brand and developed into the leading Holistic, Wellness and Metaphysical Expo in the area with their first Expo in 2015.

The concept of incorporating alternative ideas of personal care, healing and spiritual development or self-help, also known as Mind, Body, Spirit took the Expos in a new direction and helped the entire community continue to expand. Today you might find a solar energy company alongside an energy healer or a nutritional counselor next to a spiritual counselor surrounded by items of beauty such as art and jewelry with crystals and wholesome personal care products added for good measure.

If you have an open mind of any kind you can feel free to explore new ideas, people and products in a safe, comfortable and nurturing environment where questions are encouraged. They wanted to create an inviting and nurturing place where everyone from first-time vendors to seasoned pros and novices to well-learned explorers could come together and connect.

With the Embracing Your Journey Expos they have done just that. By bringing together a wide range of holistic, wellness and metaphysical practitioners and products they have created a one-stop shop for anyone who is looking to lead a happy, healthier, holistic and more aware life. Robin & Erin produce 4 Expos per year and in between times offer their products and services online and at other events around the area.

Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges seems to be time. Finding the time to get everything done. Time to explore and try out new ideas. As a working single mother of a very active pre-teen, Robin already has her hands full so when you add building a business from the ground up time becomes an even more scarce commodity. Erin also works full time and the running of the business gets fit in around family and school events as well.

The learning curve of Marketing also brings its challenges. Robin’s education is mainly in Early Childhood Development and professional experience involves a lot of customer service so learning how to create an ad for a publication or for Facebook is the brand new territory. Her seemingly unlimited creativity has been a huge asset for her in this area though.

Erin has been involved in 3 other startup businesses so is used to wearing many hats but her background is more Accounting and administrative making marketing a whole new area of study but she likes a puzzle and keeps going until she figures it out.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Purple Lotus Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As a company whether we are talking about our products and services, classes or Expo’s our first focus is always on finding a way to help, to be of service. We strive to provide people with tools and resources so that they are empowered in their lives.

Erin’s readings, classes and workshops give insight, guidance and knowledge to help people along their path of discovery. She loves working with novices and helping start them on their path of discovery with a gentle nurturing hand and a no-nonsense personality. Robin’s line of Affirmation products are constantly adapting and growing to meet the needs of their client base. What started as 3 varieties has now grown to 18, with 3 more coming in the next year. She offers them in many different formats as well to ensure that they can fit into anyone’s lifestyle.

In addition, they like to foster a sense of community rather than competition, after all, “We are all here to help each other up the mountain”. New vendors, people who are new to the area, and in fact any like-minded individuals are encouraged to join the community and participate in local events and are welcomed to meet other members at monthly Meet & Greet socials, where they can receive casual coaching in business and marketing and validation of their skills and beliefs and make lasting connections within the community, essentially finding their tribe.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love the multi-cultural melting pot of Phoenix. People from all over the country and the world find themselves drawn here. The lifestyle nourishes an open and receptive community with a variety of beliefs and origins all blended together and sharing the lovely energy in this valley.

Being natives of Massachusetts the thing we miss the most is the abundance of greenery that is not easily found here in this part of the state.
