Today we’d like to introduce you to Richelle Nassos.
Richelle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2004 me4kidz launched the first kid friendly first aid kit to the market. Family run, woman owned & employing people with special needs… Pete & Richelle were determined to raise a family, while giving back to their community, changing lives & launching a brand that would change the face of first aid. Based in Cave Creek Arizona, Richelle & Pete run their manufacturing in Mesa Arizona through Marc Center – a non-profit organization that helps rehabilitate those with special needs. They are a vital part of their rehabilitation process.
Going on 15+ years…Their products can be found in stores all over the US and in other countries. They feel very blessed to do what they love and love what they do while raising their family of three boys.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
If owning your own business was a “smooth road” everyone would do it! We work a lot of hours, late days & early mornings… But we have the freedom to do it when we want so we can raise our children & be very present in their lives… That was the plan all along. Funding your own business is work in itself, getting the big box companies to believe in your little ideas might be even harder; but continuing to innovate and stay on trend so that the consumer sees the value of your brand is essential. It’s been hard… But sometimes we have to pinch ourselves that we are still in the game all these years later and we get to work with each other. God is good!
Please tell us about your business.
Simply put – we fill the niche between private labels and licensed brands in the health care industry for first aid kits. We are most proud of how we are changing lives and not just making a living; by giving back. We are proud that we were far ahead of the curve when we offered first aid kits made with recycled plastic many years ago, BPA free (before that was important to anyone), proud that we don’t compromise our quality to save money on cost of goods so that we can deliver a premium product to our consumer.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is doing what you love, making a difference while doing it and successfully balancing life (the important stuff…(Family, Faith & our Health) along the way.
