Today we’d like to introduce you to Riane Roberts.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Riane. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Photography had always been a hobby of mine growing up. After learning more about my camera and what it takes to create a beautiful image, my hobby turned into a passion which then turned into a business. I have been a professional photographer, specializing in Weddings & Engagements for a few years now and have loved every minute.

My business has developed into more than just documenting wedding days too, I now work with a few other brands through my blog. I began blogging as a way to showcase my photography work and it has now developed into a way for me to continuously connect with my audience! My blog has personal and lifestyle posts, travel information, photography and business tips and tricks, as well as all my weddings and engagements!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Thankfully for me, it has been a fairly smooth road. Although there are daily small struggles, and sometimes bigger ones, everything has gone pretty great. I attribute this to two things! The first is I have a wonderful mentor who took me under their wing when I was first turning this passion into a business. That person is the owner of Monique Hessler Weddings, who I still work for as a photographer!

The second thing is doing my homework! I did so much research before starting my business. And not necessarily just for photography or wedding industry businesses, but everything else. I learned about accounting, the legal side of things, marketing and more! I had a workflow in place before I ever took on my first clients and things have changed and improved over the years but I definitely didn’t jump into it blindly!

Riane Roberts – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The photography side of my business specializes in Weddings and Engagements. I love documenting love stories and getting a mixture of candid and posed portraits! I get so sentimental when I think about my clients looking back on their wedding photos years down the road and being able to relive their day through the images.

I would say the thing that I am most proud of in my business is how I have been able to build relationships with clients and turn them into friends. I truly feel like I am an additional bridesmaid documenting the day and get to laugh with them, celebrate and cry and enjoy the day just as much as everyone else! Though there are a lot of difficult things in my job, it never feels like “work”.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is a freedom. Freedom to create what I want, work with people I want to work with and make a balance that gives me the best quality of life. It is hard to define because it is ever changing with different chapters in life!

Right now, I feel incredibly successful because I have a work/life balance that gives me time with my family and friends and to pursue other hobbies and interests. But I also work enough to feel fulfilled, challenged and stable.
