Meet Riana Metzger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Riana Metzger.

Riana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been passionate about capturing moments in my life through a lens and decided to expand this passion into a business called SOLUNA Creative Studios. My videography journey starts when my friend and I filmed a music video for the song These Are My Sexy Shades on my MacBook when I was 12. Embarrassing, I know, but that is when my interest in filming and editing videos began. Over the years, I’ve documented my life with my Canon and GoPro just to share with friends and family. Anyone can shoot a video on their phone nowadays, but I’ve always enjoyed going through all the footage, pairing it with the perfect song, and creating visual stories of the special moments in my life! I was honored when my college used my freshman year recap video in their recruiting efforts. After graduating in May with a marketing degree, I wanted to use those skills to help businesses promote their products/services and tell their story!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I officially started my business in August of 2019 and every day has been a new learning experience! The first major step for me was to build a portfolio and show potential clients what I had to offer. Once I had a few videos under my belt, I started to gain clientele faster than I expected… which is awesome but a little overwhelming. I’ve had to learn how to manage my time better and know when to step outside from my editing cave to take a break and keep the creative juices flowing! Everyone sees the final video, but no one sees the many hours of editing behind it.

Please tell us about your business.
When creating a name for my business, I wanted it to be something meaningful… so why SOLUNA? Sol means sun and luna mean moon, together they are a combination of things I love. I am a sunset enthusiast, easily distracted by cotton candy skies. My absolute favorite thing to do (besides creating videos) is to go hiking and watch the sunset behind the mountains. The moon also has a special place in my heart. My Auntie Claudia, who recently passed away, always said: “I love you to the moon and back!” Whenever I look up at the moon, I know she is watching over me.

My goal at SOLUNA Creative Studios is to help businesses promote themselves in a visually artistic way. I believe that a well-planned and creatively edited video can give a potential customer a real sense of what to expect. My family! I am so grateful for their unconditional love and support. They motivate me to keep doing what I love and I couldn’t be doing it without them. I was gifted my first DSRL camera from my cousin’s husband three years ago, and here I am now making a career with it.

My OG clients! They allowed me to film them doing what they love without really knowing what to expect from me. So thank you for allowing me to build my portfolio and show others what I am capable of creating.
