Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Sturgeon
Rhonda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started having back pain when I was about 10 years old. As a teenager, I had difficulty sleeping because of the pain in my low back and the way it radiated down my legs. I began taking ibuprofen every night just to get some rest, even though I believed my body could heal itself if given the right opportunity and tools.
It wasn’t until my early 20s, when I was into bodybuilding, that I discovered chiropractic care. My lower back was constantly hurting, and my chiropractor was a game-changer, helping me in so many ways beyond just relieving pain.
After completely my undergraduate degree, I decided to go to chiropractic school. I wanted to help people heal from the inside out. Initially, I thought I would focus on athletes and sports injuries, but the universe had other plans. Between the first and second trimesters of school, I was hit by a car while walking one evening, which forever changed my life in many ways.
During my recovery, I started getting adjusted three times a week. With this regular, consistent care, my body began healing in ways beyond just pain relief. This experience transformed how I decided to practice and continues to shape how I get adjusted today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it’s been a deeply profound path of healing my own physical and emotional wounds and traumas.
We’ve been impressed with Transcendent Chiropractic, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been practicing for 24 years. I spent many years in Colorado and a brief period in New Hampshire, and for the past 13 years, I’ve been practicing in Tucson. I use various techniques tailored to how each person’s body presents when they’re on the table, primarily focusing on non-force techniques combined with emotional and energetic modalities. I also offer remote healing sessions and am excited to expand this part of my business.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The mountains are beautiful along with the weather in the winter months. I am from Maine and really miss trees, water and seasons.
