Meet Rhonda Madrid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Madrid.

Rhonda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2017, I was looking for a creative outlet to keep my mind busy and free from anxiety and depression. I took $30 to a local craft store and started making jewelry. My hobby quickly turned into a small business selling to friends and family on social media.

With no college degree and no capital, I used the resources I had and reinvested every dime back into my business. (I am still debt-free.) I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and no business plan. However, what I did have was much more valuable and that was having a vision.

My small business helped me find my purpose in life. My mission is to encourage other women to dream big and then to dream even bigger. To encourage women to believe in themselves and to find themselves. My business turned into so much more than just jewelry.

I was able to retire from Corporate America after 18 years of being in the higher education industry, October of 2018, to pursue my business full-time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been an amazing journey with many ups and downs. I have learned so much about running a business and also myself in the process. The biggest struggle has been finding balance in my life. There have been many sacrifices such as not spending time with family, late nights, a messy house and all the guilt that comes with that! As women, we want to be able to do it all and when we can’t we feel like a failure. That’s when the negative self-talk comes in and the feeling of less than. I want women to know that they are enough. To love themselves exactly how they are and to give themselves grace. I have found that the most important relationship that I can have is with myself. I cannot pour from an empty cup. I hope that my journey and my story can help other women see that too.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rhonda Madrid Designs – what should we know?
I design and handcraft most of my jewelry and specialize in ultra-lightweight earrings.

I pride myself in first class customer service, superior product quality and strive to be the best in the industry.

I created a brand ambassador program and currently have 50 amazing and beautiful women who represent my brand. My goal is to have 130 brand ambassadors by the end of 2019.

What were you like growing up?
Believe it or not, I was painfully shy growing up. It absolutely shocks me how far I have come! I was an entrepreneur though even as a kid selling pencils to my classmates in kindergarten!
