Meet Gina Keilen of Revelation Real Estate in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Keilen.

Gina, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve wanted a creative and challenging career for as long as I can remember. After getting my business marketing degree from ASU I immediately went for my real estate license. I worked for a national home builder for several years during the height of the market and sold hundreds of homes. Then the recession hit and everything came to a screeching halt. I found myself having to reinvent my career. I had to start again from the bottom, which now I see was an incredible life lesson. I’ve been with Revelation Real Estate since 2016 working with buyers, sellers, and investors. I’ve worked hard to build my business and grow each year. I love that this industry has no limits and allows me to be very entrepreneurial all while helping people every day.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A smooth road would not describe my path thus far. At 24 years old I thought I had a career that would last a lifetime. I loved my employer and the work of selling new homes. I made a great living and I thought I would be doing that forever. I planned life around that job. When the recession hit, the job I loved completely changed. I survived five rounds of brutal layoffs until my entire division was out of work. I had to start over completely. I remember waiting in line for an hour to apply for a bartending job because there simply wasn’t enough work for everyone in need. I continued to sell homes when I could but I had to supplement my income working as a bartender and then a wedding photographer. I was just barely scraping by. After starting a family I decided to throw myself back into real estate. The market had recovered and I felt like I survived. I stuck out the worst of it and my new experience had taught me how cyclical the market can be. I felt the ups and downs that life can throw at you. I was so scared to dive in that I left my first meeting at Revelation Real Estate without signing a single form. The fear and apprehension took over as I thought about all the things that could go wrong and now my choices affect not only me but my family. Real estate is 100% commission and that can be very risky. I decided my will to succeed was worth another leap of faith and I’m so grateful I went for it.

Please tell us about your business.
I am a real estate agent serving the Phoenix Valley Metro area with over 15 years of experience in new homes and resale. I work with buyers, sellers, and investors. I sold homes for a national home builder and managed my community’s team of sales associates. I have been featured on podcasts “Things Just Got Real Estate” and “Moms in Real Estate”. I was honored in the Top Producers Club at Revelation Real Estate in 2018. I pride myself on providing the highest level of service and care to my clients. I joined the team at Revelation Real Estate which has been named one of the Top 10 Single Brokerages in the nation by Wall Street Journal and has been the most productive firm in the East Valley for the past 8 years. I work directly with my clients and my team.

I am a wife, mother, and Arizona native. I grew up in Tucson and moved to Tempe in 1999 to attend Arizona State University. I studied Business Marketing and met my husband of 9 years while in college. Together we live in Chandler raising two busy, adventurous sons and a golden-doodle named Gracie. I am passionate about supporting local children’s charities and I currently sit on the board for Lily’s Pad. Our mission is to build the first hyper clean indoor play space of it’s kind in the nation catering to families battling pediatric cancer and other children who are immune compromised.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change a lot about my path because I believe a big part of where I’m at now is a result of my past. I would tell myself to be more humble and to listen to those who have lived on this earth longer than me. Take the time to get outside of yourself and learn from those who have more experience.
