Meet Renee Pecora and Donna Middlebrooks of Beyond Bridal Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Pecora and Donna Middlebrooks.

Renee and Donna, please share your story with us. 
We have always had a passion for Bridal Hair and Makeup and hate how most things in the wedding industry are so expensive just because it’s a wedding. So, we wanted to create our business and be reasonably priced so that all brides can afford to feel beautiful on one of the biggest days of their lives and not have to decide between things like, “Can I go on a honeymoon or should I pay for hair and makeup?” That is why we decided to create Beyond Bridal Beauty. There are no hidden fees, no travel fees, nothing. Just hair and airbrush makeup by a team of girls that truly love their job! We started out by having a booth at the Arizona Bridal Show which is twice a year, then we became a part of TheKnot.com and now we also have the wonderful word of mouth referrals which has been amazing. We can’t believe how much we have grown in just a little over a year. It is truly a dream come true!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been easy but we know that nothing amazing comes easy! We are truly hard workers and when passion is behind it, you just can’t stop us! 🙂 A few of our struggles along the way include: Having bridal parties not be ready for us to start on them when we arrive, making us almost late for our next weddings. Having bridal parties add extra services on the day of and us having the hardest time saying no so we add extra services making us almost late for our next wedding that day. Having to deal with mom-villas who think it is their day and are a lot more work than the bride. Renee went to the doctor during flu season and the doctor told her that she had the flu and couldn’t work the next day, realizing that weddings cannot be rescheduled and all of our other team members had the flu as well, it was quite the struggle figuring out what to do! Brides not paying their final payments on time. Brides not returning the extensions that they rented from us. All of these struggles were tough but we learned so much from them and learned how to prevent these things from happening in the future! As a growing company, we understand that there are going to be hiccups along the way but they can only make us better and we can just learn from them!

Please tell us about Beyond Bridal Beauty.
We are on-site bridal and special/occasion hair and airbrush makeup. We go to them on their wedding day and do not charge a travel fee in the Valley Area. We specialize in airbrush makeup and large parties. Airbrush makeup guarantees 12-24 hrs of wear, super lightweight, water-resistant and recommended for pictures. We specialize in large parties as we have around 8 licensed artists to accommodate everyone in a timely manner. What sets us apart from others is that we are a business that has a contract that saves us and the brides so we will not cancel them last minute. We have plenty of artists, so that if someone were to have an emergency then we can call our other artists. Everyone on our team is licensed cosmetologists and/or aestheticians. Makeup is not regulated by state board so you technically do not have to be licensed to do makeup. This being said, every single artist on our team has learned the proper sanitary methods to make sure that we are sanitary when doing hair and makeup. We also don’t charge a travel fee which many other companies/salons/freelance artists do charge travel fees.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Renee’s: Growing up, I would go with my mom to get our hair done every 6 weeks and I would get so excited to go there, I would ask my stylists tons of questions about what she was doing and why and I would ask her if she needed help. I just loved how being at the salon made me feel, how being in that industry made me feel. I knew from then that I was meant for the beauty industry!

Donna’s: Singing in my aunt’s car with the windows down while eating ice cream. We were all covered in ice cream and it was so much fun. Even though I hate being dirty!

  • Bride Hair & Makeup: 320 (includes a trial) Discounted to $280 if she has 4 or more services booked with her
  • Wedding Party Hair & Makeup: $120 (anyone that is not a bride)
  • Flower Girl: $40 (8yrs and younger) Includes complimentary blush and lipgloss if wanted
  • Bride Hair Only: $180 (includes a trial) Discounted to $170 if she has 4 or more services booked with her
  • Bride Makeup Only: $180 (includes a trial) Discounted to $170 if she has 4 or more services booked with her
  • Wedding Party Hair Only: $75
  • Wedding Party Makeup Only: $60
