Today we’d like to introduce you to Renea Paulsen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Renea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been coaching and helping others ever since I can remember. Random strangers would come up to me in the grocery store and tell me their life stories and cry about what they were struggling with. If I had a nickel for every time I have heard “I’ve never told anyone this and I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but here goes…” I would be a millionaire! I never thought of it as a job though – but always my inner calling. This tug at my soul to always help others. It wasn’t until I have a severe car accident in 2015 that left me with a broken back, pelvis, sacrum and a head injury did I realize that life can change in an instant. And I wanted to make the most of my time in my life doing what I truly loved – helping others. I have always been the type of person that whatever the problem I will ‘figure it out’. So I set out to help others by sharing my own difficult battles and experiences in a candid way so that other people wouldn’t feel alone. That morphed into coaching clients and helping them get through difficult times and/or set and achieve goals in areas of loss of loved ones, opening businesses, financial goals, food addiction, weight loss/health and relationships, etc. I do weekly live streams on Facebook that give my real life tips how to deal with battles and overcome them. I believe that every woman has a warrior spirit inside them, so I have also created a community called the Warrior Tribe. I also coach 1:1 clients from all over the world and have several online courses that I run at certain times of the year.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No. Nothing in real life goes smoothly. In any business, there are ups and downs and the first several years can be hard. The hardest part for me has been in the first few years, trying to grow and get my name out there to those that can use and want help. However, there can be stretches of times where you don’t hear from people and you start to wonder if you are even making a difference. It can be very emotionally difficult at times, but it’s all worth it when I hear that something I said made a difference in someone’s life. There would be times when I would doubt what I was doing and then I would get a random message from someone telling me that one of my videos helped and I would break down in tears. Reaching people that need help and want help has always been my driving force – that and my beautiful children. I want to set the example and show them what is possible if they lead with passion and do something they love to help others – the possibilities are endless.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I coach women on how they can overcome life battles such as: loss of loved one, relationships, health, food addiction, divorce, setting and achieving goals – and help them create a real life plan on how to create a life each woman absolutely loves. I specialize in coaching women on how to overcome food addiction. As a recovering food addict myself, this is something that I am extremely passionate about. Most of us are not taught how to properly feed ourselves and with the Standard American Diet that most are eating – food addiction is running rampant. This is why the health and obesity epidemic is where it is at right now. What most people are shocked to find out (and as a sweets person, I certainly was) is that sugar is 6X MORE addictive that cocaine – and it’s in pretty much EVERYTHING. I have made it my mission to spread awareness about food and sugar addiction and help other women take back control of their health and their life. What sets me apart is that I have been to the depths of food addiction myself and battled out of it after my car accident. I was consuming over 2000% of the daily sugar intake and it was wreaking havoc on my health. I had high blood pressure, an extremely elevated heart rate, hypothyroidism, depression, anxiety and had to have my gallbladder removed at age 26 due to a high fat diet. After working hard to get my health on track for the first time in my life and facing my food and sugar addiction head on, I am down 70+ lbs., off all my medication and healthier than I have ever been in my life. Now I share my story, knowledge and real life tips and tools on how to create a life you absolutely love in real life.
What were you like growing up?
I moved around a lot my entire life. I am 33 and have moved 31 times in my life and 9 times across the country. As a kid, I was stubborn and chatty, so not much has changed. There is a quote that says “The fastest way to get me to go out and do something is to tell me no way I can do it.” – Evelyn Ashford.
This is and always has been me in a nutshell. I will figure out a way to do anything that I want to do. Especially talk. I have always loved talking and connecting with people. I have never been a surface conversation type of person, I don’t want to talk about the weather, I like to dive in deep and have meaningful conversations. I have absolutely loved helping people for as long as I can remember – so my interests have always surrounded around that. When I was younger, I was in the healthcare and pharmacy field thinking that would fulfill me and it did for a while, but it didn’t ever seem to really help the root problem. After I had both my kids, I moved out healthcare and started focusing on how to help people in a way that I could feel good about.
