Today we’d like to introduce you to Rea Mayer.
Rea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career in wealth management over 12 years ago as a client associate for a financial advisor. Transitioning from entirely different professions (I have degrees in civil engineering and psychology and experience in marketing), I knew I wanted to have a lifelong career in an industry that was personally and universally meaningful. I wanted to help people. I started with assisting individual clients then transitioned into managing support staff. My success as a support staff manager led me to work with financial advisory teams to increase their levels of service and provide the best advice for their clients. My reach was far; I worked with a variety teams over short but intense periods of time. After a few years, I decided to shift my focus to developing longer, deeper relationships. My journey takes me full circle, and now as a financial advisor, my team and I influence the most important aspects of individual clients’ lives and legacies. I am incredibly energized by the work I do. I have the fortune and pleasure to help people in the most meaningful ways.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges and struggles if you choose to define them that way. Looking back, every challenge turned out to be an opportunity. The true challenge is trusting that it will all work out. Over the years, I have learned to use adversity as an opportunity to refocus, create new practices, and become better at my craft. I wouldn’t want a smooth road. I would not have developed my skills or an appreciation for my success if the road was easy.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least about our city?
There is a lot I love about Phoenix—the diversity, the variety of activities, the beautiful scenery, the relative lack of traffic—but the best part is the people. There is an incredible sense of community. People are welcoming, friendly, helpful, and supportive. It was my choice to relocate to Phoenix a year ago, and I can’t imagine growing my business and raising my family in a better community. The community has embraced me and my family, and this is truly our home.
