Meet Re-Shawndra Jackson of RJackson Photography in South Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Re-Shawndra Jackson.

Re-Shawndra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Inspired by photography since college, I started taking photos on my iPhone 5. After obtaining a graduates degree in New Media Journalism at Full-Sail University Online, I then knew I wanted to continue my career as an artist. Having a natural eye for photography, I decided to buy a camera and pursue a photography career part-time. Last year, I was presented with a variety of opportunities that have allowed me to evolve as an artist, with RAW Natural Born Artists Showcase being one of them. Following that, this year started off amazing. I’ve done a number of Fashion Shows, Model Photography shoots and Clothing Line shoots. My goals are to continue to push myself as an artist and individual all while making a better future for my son. He is my WHY.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a pretty smooth road thus far. I have a support system that is just amazing! From my immediate family to my close friends and people that I continue to build relationships with along the way. Everyone has pushed me to different levels that I never thought I could go. The biggest struggle as an up and coming Business Owner/Entrepreneur is networking and being comfortable with hearing the word “no.” Once you get past that stage of the business, the skies the limit!

Please tell us about RJackson Photography.
As a photographer, I think it’s very important that you learn all different types of photography. I don’t have anything that I particularly specialize in at the moment I do it all. Right now, I’m really into fashion, models & lifestyle photo shoots. I’m extremely proud at the fact that I’ve only been doing this for a little over a year now part-time and when people see my work they are shocked because of the quality and they just assume I’ve been doing it longer. Treating every shoot like it’s my first one and making my clients feel comfortable/beautiful in their own skin is always a top priority. Building relationships with my clients and not just treating them as an opportunity to make a quick buck is what separates me from most.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the next few months, I plan on releasing my clothing line I’ve been working on with one of my older siblings Terry Jackson who is also working on releasing his first book this year. I’ am curious to see what this year holds for RJackson Photography I’m confident it will be amazing.
