Meet Raymond Nieves of 911 Air Repair in Maricopa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymond Nieves.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I got into the HVAC industry right after high school as a part-time job while attending Arizona State University and working as a sales rep for Verizon Wireless (as a full-time employee). While attending college and working in the HVAC industry, I quickly learned that this would be where I could see my career long-term. Arizona is hot and robots couldn’t take a job away from a service technician. So, I enrolled in The Refrigeration School Inc. and jumped all in. Once I completed the program and received the proper certifications, I was a full-time technician. The company I was with was small and family-owned so I was able to learn the ins and outs of the business: service side, installation side, customer service side, and the office work. I stayed with the company for ten years until I came to a crossroads that presented me the opportunity to go out and try to spread my wings on my own. That was in 2017 and we haven’t looked back yet! It was a little scary at first but things have been great. Being an entrepreneur can be stressful but it’s a challenge that is extremely satisfying at the same time. I love being able to be involved in the community by sponsoring little league teams, supporting the local schools, churches, libraries, non-profits that also help the community and by hiring local residents as we grow. We recently won the 2018 Small Business of the Year award from the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce and have big plans for the future. We appreciate the support and love from all of our family, friends, and customers that have helped us get to where we are and will help us get to where we want to be.

Has it been a smooth road?
I can’t say that any road to entrepreneurship is smooth. There are little hiccups that come along the way that you never plan for, unexpected costs, marketing costs, breakdowns, etc.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 911 Air Repair story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in maintenance, repair, and installation of residential and commercial equipment. We also work with smart thermostats, sensors, and air purification options. We are most proud of the customer reviews that we get on our platforms due to the service we provide and the help we are able to give to customers. We love being able to help our community and give back when we can to really be a staple in our community.

Tell us about your favorite and least favorites things about our city.
I love Maricopa. I was born and raised here and have grown our business here locally. I have great anticipation for what the future holds for our growing area.
