Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Hintz.
Ray, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ten years ago, we made the move from Oregon to Tucson, where my wife started working for a top real estate company in the area. Knowing that I loved working with people, she told me that I’d be great in real estate and encouraged me to get my license when we moved to the area, so I fit classes in wherever I could around my current job and eventually spoke with her boss about starting a Phoenix division.
We worked in property management together for a while, but I quickly noticed that I was more drawn to working with sellers and joined another top Phoenix team that my former boss referred me to. Again, I was tasked with starting a Phoenix branch, but this time working with sellers. During these times, I learned so much about what goes into starting a business, not just making transactions happen. It was a privilege to work with such high caliber leaders. They invested their time and resources into coaching and teaching me the ins and outs of helping people sell their home. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.
Several months ago, seeing the opportunity before us, my wife and I sat down to discuss the possibility of launching out on our own. While it was a hard decision to leave such a great team, we felt that it would open us new doors for us and our family of seven.
Today, we primarily work with families and individuals in the West Valley, building trusted relationships, as we use our knowledge of the area to show them how we can help them get the desired results they want… selling their home for the most money in the timeframe that is best for them.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has certainly been filled with plenty of potholes and unforeseen turns! When we moved to Phoenix five years ago, we knew very few people and the real estate thing was new to me, so the growth curve was steep. I understood the basics, but it’s amazing how nuanced things are and how much you realize you don’t know.
In the early months, there were times that I wasn’t sure if I could make it. I remember applying at the post office and was offered the job. It was at that moment I had to make a decision. I seriously considered it, but I knew that while it would have been a more stable income at the time, I would not have been happy. Ultimately, my wife encouraged me to do what I felt was best and we grinded out that first year.
It hasn’t always been easy, but I enjoy my job, love the people I work with and love learning new strategies every day that enable us to assist even more people.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
While our team works with buyers and sellers throughout the Valley, I primarily work with people looking to sell their home in the West Valley. In addition to knowing our markets and staying up on the latest trends, we pride ourselves in providing constant, clear and honest communication.
Our team is aggressive in prospecting for potential buyers in the area as well as marketing our properties online to get the home in front of the right potential buyers.
Of course, we also provide professional photos/videos, as well as options for staging to maximize the value of the home in the eyes of buyers.
Ultimately, we want to provide value to our audience, even if that means they don’t sell their house with us. We know that when we answer questions people have, share insight into the process, and demonstrate care to those around us, everything works out.
What were you like growing up?
I have always loved life. Don’t get me wrong, I have my moments, but internally, I’m a very optimistic person. I absolutely love learning about and being around people. Even as a teenager and into our early years of marriage, I was fueled by constantly being on the go. Now that we have five kids, ages 4-12, I have to slow things down a little, but with that many people in one home, it is one of the most fun places to be!
In this season of my life, I also have the opportunity to volunteer as a pastor at our church, where my wife and I work with some amazing people. Many of them are younger than us, so it’s exciting to share our experiences and insights with them.
Reading is my new hobby. Last year I set and hit my goal of twenty-five books and I’m shooting for fifty this year. While I love reading and learning, I also love a good challenge, so it makes it fun for me to compete against my hyper-competitive self. I can’t believe how long I waited to really get into reading! It’s pretty awesome to get to read books that people poured a year of their life into, or sometimes even longer, and digest that knowledge in a few hours. That’s what I call some real ROI!
