Meet Rana Landreth of NonBiased Inc. in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rana Landreth.

Rana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Why I Started Non-Biased, Inc.
We all live busy lives, sometimes we don’t seem to be able to catch up. With work, kids, homework, play-dates, and house chores we are simply too busy to make it all happen and feel rested at the same time. This is when we decided to create Non-Biased Reviews. We wanted to find ways to relax and reduce our levels of stress. A few years ago, we lived in a house on a very busy street, so we just kind of accepted that sleeping a full 7-8 hours just wasn’t part of life. When we moved into our current house, all of the traffic noise was gone so shouldn’t we be getting 8-9 hours of sleep magically? We didn’t realize that we weren’t sleeping as much as we had thought until we purchased a fitness/sleep tracker. The first time you wake up and see how many minutes you were awake, or just in light sleep, it hits you that something is wrong in your life. So, here we were, not sleeping much and waking up with back pain. There’s no way that the dips and mountains in our mattress were contributing to our sleep problems right???

Naturally, finding the right mattress for us should help. So, we started a quest to try out as many as we can. We buy many of the products that we test so that we can stay unbiased in our analysis of each product. However, some of the products we test are provided to us for free so that we can test them. We highlight which ones were paid for and which ones were free in our reviews. Mattresses that we receive for free go through the same testing and review process as those that we pay for.

Running Non-Biased reviews isn’t cheap, so we have decided to use links to allow our viewers the opportunity to purchase all of the products that we review. These links don’t cost the viewer anything, yet will help us recover our costs if the viewer ends up purchasing the products from our links. No manufacturer can get preferential treatment or a boost to their reviews.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing comes easy! Hard work, extra dedication and most importantly focus is what I needed to get this company up and running. Nonbiased Inc. is a small business run by just me with some help from my husband. It is learning as we go day by day. The most amazing thing that happened to us was this sudden success because of my honest reviews and how I felt about a product after testing it. I was delivering the viewers a straight up opinion to help them make up their minds when they are ready to make a purchase. But then, with this success and just basically two people running Nonbiased Inc from home we simply couldn’t keep up with the competition.

We found out that some manufacturers of the products that I was testing owned and operated their own review websites with 100% biased reviews. Basically kicking independent people like me out. That did not stop us from continuing what I love to do but it is no longer successful as it used to be.

Please tell us about your business.
First, what sets us apart from others. I am absolutely unbiased and I tell what I feel about anything I am testing as it is! Lots of companies don’t like that part, but that’s my motto and I go by the name of my Company Non Biased, pure and simple.

At Nonbiased Inc, I focus mainly on reviewing mattresses giving myself plenty of time to test them in depth. I am super proud of sharing my experience with my followers. Purchasing a mattress is an investment and it is important that when you make that decision in the end, you make the right one. That’s where I come to the rescue! Another thing I am very proud of (and honored), is that people trust me enough to email me asking me what to purchase, after sharing with me their sleep habits, It’s like being the mattress Doctor which is pretty cool.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Honesty! Being unbiased has been a blessing and a curse at the same time. Some CEO’s contacted me complaining about how I rated their products- (which prompted them to start their own review websites).

I love what I do so much I am currently in the process of starting another new company called https://altcouch.com/ mainly helping others with smaller houses get the right couch that turns into a bed, with many positions and options to use. The name is within Alternative Couch.
