Meet Ramakant Shankar and Rebecca Schuller of My BeezNest in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramakant Shankar and Rebecca Schuller.

Ramakant and Rebecca, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started with creating custom design prints on baby clothing for a friend, who was expecting, and turned into an idea for an online business.

We wanted to create a fashion-forward baby clothing line. Hence, aside from the design aspects of our fashionwear, it was very important to us that we hand-picked clothing that was not only comfortable for a baby’s touch, but also convenient for a mother to handle.

Rebecca, having a background experience in graphic design brings artistic flavor to all the design elements and handles the entire screen printing process. Rama, having a background in software coding and business management handles business strategies and automating tasks related to our website and marketing. We are a good fit that works together to fill the gaps and make a wonderful team.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Relatively it has been smooth. Being a newborn baby Bee in this field, with no family background, we had a little struggle figuring out certain business strategies such as procurement, marketing, selling, etc. But we always bounce back for the better from our fall backs.

As always there are challenges and there always will be. With each tiny baby step forward, we are learning and growing, but we have long way to go. The most challenging part of our business is we never realize when the topic of our work meetings turns into a food fest and ends by booking movie tickets. Nevertheless, we enjoy what we do and have fun while learning.

My BeezNest derives from the idea that we, as humans, cannot survive without the bees. In this case, a baby cannot survive without a nurturing mother. My BeezNest focuses on the comfort that a mother can provide for her child. It is essentially her nesting grounds as the baby is growing.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We measure our success by customer satisfaction. Consumer feedback is our main source where we can make improvements and how we can be better ourselves in any situation. We appreciate our social interactions with our customers as it helps gather useful information that can improve our product offerings and our business.

We believe customer trust & appreciation is the best revenue that we can earn. We work towards earning these and building reputation. It is like earning mushrooms & coins in the game Super Mario Bros. while we level up to the next stage!.
