Meet Rachelle Owens of Old Soul Imagery in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Owens.

Rachelle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Photography as an art form has always been the one medium I could understand and appreciate. I loved being able to freeze a moment, an emotion, a face, or a place, and turn it into art. I’ve also been obsessed with weddings for what feels like forever!!! So, the day, I realized I could combine those two loves into a career was pretty much the best day ever! It’s been 4 1/2 years and every wedding just reminds me how much I truly love my job. The idea that year after year each couple will pull out their album, sit on the couch together, and relive their wedding day, is just pure bliss!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has definitely had its ups and downs! There was about a year that I kept shooting not knowing if I wanted to keep going. But after a lot of soul searching, I realized there’s nothing else I’d rather do more!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Old Soul Imagery – what should we know?
My company is called Old Soul Imagery because I am most definitely an old soul. Not because I love old things, or feel like I was born at the wrong time, but because I just have the mindset of someone who has lived a full long life. I look at each situation based on long-term probabilities rather than short term. My business is run the same way. I’m not just thinking about tomorrow, I’m thinking about 5 years from now, 10 years from now, and when and how I want to retire! My clients do the same. And that’s why I provide a tangible product with every single wedding. Albums are SOOOOO important!!! With the way technology changes and grows, on your 10th or 20th or 30th anniversary the only piece of your wedding that will have survived the time and changing technology is your album! So, I make sure my clients have a piece of their wedding that will last as long as their marriage. Because it’s not just about your wedding day, it’s about the rest of your lives together!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that the most important quality to my success is probably just plain ‘ole follow through! As long as you show up and do your job and deliver your finished product, that’s the most important part!
