Meet Rachelle Kleimon of Grind Fitness AZ in North Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Kleimon.

Rachelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a group fitness instructor since 2011 and certified Health Coach since 2013. I decided to go out on my own at the end of 2016 and focus on small group training. Initially, I was going to sub-lease a single room for a few classes a week and work for a variety of other fitness facilities the rest of the time. After not finding the ideal sub-lease and realizing I wanted to drive a fitness business with my own vision, I found a great 2000 sq. foot facility that would be perfect. Falling in love with this space and realizing that I could make my dreams a reality, Grind Fitness AZ was born.

We just celebrated our 1-year anniversary on Jan 9th, 2018. It’s been a whirlwind year and I couldn’t ask for a better group of members!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting started has been smooth. I planned for most obstacles, but of course it’s the unexpected things that get you! Fortunately, I believe every struggle is an opportunity. For example, my perfect little location turned out to be less than perfect and we had to relocate a few months back. At first, I was really torn about this, but our current location really has been a step up in every way. Beyond this, the struggle is getting the Grind Fitness AZ name out there in a saturated market that is run by franchises. As a small business owner, my marketing budget just doesn’t compare. However, I have a great referral program and slowly but surely the word is spreading!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Grind Fitness AZ – what should we know?
I put my heart into every class and program that I write. No two classes are the same and I adjust to all levels and mobilities. I know every face and name that attends my classes. I know what issues, injuries, and needs each member has. I take time to know about each member and their goals. Small groups allow members to know each other and to create that sense of family and community. There is accountability if you don’t show up for a few days – I’ll be messaging you! Our members are not just another name and number in a database. I focus on old school, back to basic principles with updated programming and equipment. I am interested not only in your health and wellness today, but that you are healthy and can move well 20 years from now. I teach how to move properly. I explain why we do certain movements and what areas of the body are affected. I don’t push “diets” or sell supplements. I teach proper nutrition and how to fuel your body to perform at its best. We are a full wellness program helping all levels stay active and perform to their best ability. Grind Fitness is fitness for EVERYBODY.
