Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Fischer.
Rachel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been that one friend out of the group who always had their point-and-shoot camera in their purse at all times. Being 13, all I did was snap photos of my friends and me doing silly things such as making unflattering faces and cheesy fashion shoots. To me, it has always been a fun way to create moments we would never forget.
As I got older, I had purchased my very first DSLR camera. Yeah, it was only five-hundred dollars but the quality of photos were a MILLION times better than my cheap point-and-shoot. So, I continually snapped my friends and took my camera on vacation just for the memories.
In 2016, I realized that maybe there was more than just taking photos of my personal life. I thought to myself, “Why don’t I create moments with other people?” And then it all clicked. Being so fortunate to live in a city that collaborates and endorses each other in our professions, I have had an enormous amount of opportunities to work with bloggers and companies to get the ball rolling on my photography business.
Today, I specialize in portrait, lifestyle and branding photography. Not only that, but I am blessed to take photos with Kristen Hennke (kristenhennke.com). And even though life is crazy, I am happy to say that this is something that I love doing which is capturing genuine moments that will last a lifetime.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, no road is perfect. One of the struggles I have had through the years is feeling not good enough. You go on social media and see these photos that are PERFECTION which leads to comparison. Being a semi-new business owner, it’s a challenge not to think like that. I then learned that doing that only clouds your thoughts which leads to losing identity. With going through that phase, I remembered to stay true to my style and to stay true to myself.
Please tell us about Rachel Fischer Visuals.
I own a photography business that specializes in portrait and lifestyle photography. It has been such an insane ride because things are moving so quickly! With photoshoots being scheduled here and there, I am so proud of myself for getting to where I am now.
I have always known that photography is meaningful. It’s essential to capture the special moments in life. I have gained ability in the use of natural light and create a connection with my clients to capture pure moments and emotions.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
The first thing I immediately thought of was being outdoors. Rather than being inside watching television, I have always been the one outside playing with dirt or on the playground with my friends. It was much more fun being outside.
