Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Hunter.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Heather Hunter. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had always experienced what would be considered “psychic” and unusual phenomena since childhood–but my family just told me I had a very “active imagination”, or that the visits I received at night weren’t visits by anyone or anything, but rather nightmares—so naturally, I believed that too. My family was conservative, although not religious. We didn’t speak too much about God or angels, so spirits and ghosts would be considered foreign or outlandish subject matter! By the time I was in high school, I realized I might be a little different from most of my classmates. Somehow, I was good at “just knowing” and sensing things about people, mostly. I also had an indescribable awareness of a “greater reality” or there being much more to our existence.
By college most of these experiences had stopped, and my “greater awareness” seemed to fade. Any abilities I had were safely tucked away in the “psychic closet”. I really wanted to be more alike others rather than different from them, at this point in my young life! However, my intuition continued to serve me well in relationships and jobs–particularly my work as a therapist.
By my early 30’s I was being pummeled with unfortunate events, loss and sorrow, Depression crept in as well and my life was spiraling rapidly downhill to the point that I hit my personal rock bottom. I made choices that put my health and sometimes even my life in danger. The only thing I had left was prayer.
I didn’t really know “how to” pray, but I did what I could. Within weeks of my total surrender, my depression began to lift, and positive opportunities began to come my way. When I returned to working as a therapist, I found that my long-since-buried intuitive abilities had sprung forth, and with an immediate and uncanny knowledge of my clients’ deepest struggles, I was able to quickly bring them healing and resolution to their problems. I knew their past. I knew their current struggles and all about the people who were a part of them. I even knew some of their health issues and saw the connection of health problems to specific emotions, traumas, and events in their lives. Eventually, my clients’ loved ones who had passed began to communicate to me during the counseling sessions. Those on the other side continue to learn and heal too. And sometimes they wanted to apologize to a client. They know all about what we are doing.
Despite these remarkable experiences, for various reasons I wanted to “bury” my abilities once again, and switch careers as well. I considered going into nursing. I wanted to have a “normal” job. But because of a young woman in Spirit named Leah Goldberg that was not going to happen.
Leah was the daughter of a Facebook friend, Gabi and I had never met, but her posts were frequently in my news feed. Leah had developed a cancerous brain tumor, and her tumultuous journey was on Facebook for all to experience. Through social media I was a part of it all; the cancer treatments, the remission and ensuing celebrations, and eventually the tumor’s horrendous return. When Leah passed, her mother Gabi shared her anguish on Facebook. One night while reading Gabi’s latest post, Leah spoke to me loud and clear, insisting I let her mother know she was alright! After several nights of Leah’s visits, I succumbed to her desire to “prove” her ongoing existence and wrote down everything she shared. When I contacted her mother with the details, she was able to validate every memory, item, place, and more that Leah had shared with me, from the other side. Leah continued to stay very close to me and urged me to do the work professionally, promising to help me transition my work, and she followed through on her promise.
Today that is the only work I do–sharing messages from the deceased with their living loved ones. It not only helps those of us here, but it helps those who have passed on as well. Love truly never ends.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
But also, I have lost friends and even contact with a few family members because of the work I do. Some probably think I’ve lost my mind. Some may think that it’s not “real” that communicating with the deceased is not possible, and therefore, I am a fraud.
And sadly, there are those who cannot accept either the reality of the work or embrace it due to religious reasons. I understand not liking the work, but it’s unfortunate that the only way to reconcile that for some was to try to sever all ties with me.
Psychic Medium Heather Hunter – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Like any profession, those who work in mediumship have a wide range of skills, abilities, and yes, ethics.
I have received acclaim for my ability to provide specific details and share the personalities and emotions of the deceased. And while names and dates are great, and can come through, it is the unexpected and unique details I bring through that assure my clients the information is not from the internet! As one of my clients exclaimed, “You can’t Google THIS!”
Having worked as a therapist, I have a never-ending compassion for the struggles and challenges we endure in our lifetimes. My over-reaching goal is to bring a person a little bit of peace, closure, and/or understanding through a powerful connection with loved ones passed. And the number one way to do that in my work is to help them realize, without a doubt, they are indeed connecting with a passed loved one. This is done through bringing through and sharing very specific and unique details about the former life of the person in spirit or sharing details specific only to the spirit person him/herself. I work diligently to help the living address unfinished business between themselves and their departed family members, and the healing is truly in the details. Sometimes the departed answer questions with their personalities on full display using the language, idioms, expressions and gestures they were known for while living. But they do, often, answer questions. And while of course those in Spirit often want to tell their living family members they love them, an “I love you” from Mom in Heaven is going to mean a lot more when I give you specific details to reassure you that I am, indeed, talking with your mom. In a way, I am still offering therapy, but now it’s for the living AND the dead.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I was invited to give readings to callers live on the air on a Denver radio station, (92.5 The Wolf) and demand for my services grew exponentially. I am so grateful for that opportunity and being willing to publicly embrace the title of “Psychic medium”.
